Hi,

  1. Boot up the computer into the setup
  2. Press 'ALT' and 'F' at the same time
  3. Turn 'NUM LOCK', 'SCROLL LOCK' and 'CAPS LOCK' on. (Make sure the lights on the keyboard are on.)
  4. Press 'ALT' and 'P' at the same time. The bios should now be reset to the factory settings.
Hope my info solves your problem.....
Thanx for using fixya....

No BIOS, can't install XP Home Edition.

Sometimes only a certain number of Windows are allowed to be installed. Ask your friend to install it for you. If he can't, don't buy.

I am running Windows XP Home edition. I changed some setting in the "Setup" using the F2 key, and then like an idiot changed something in the categories I think called "Bios"

There are several ways to reset your Bios. But until you are locked out of it, there is an easy solution. You need to reset your bios. The location and wording of this option varies for every different BIOS.It will typically be called "Reset to Default", "Factory Default", "Setup Defaults", or something similar. It may be located in one of the tabs or it may be an option listed near the navigation buttons.

What you need to do is reboot your PC, press F12 or DEL until the bios screen arrives. Then you need to just navigate to 'Defaults' or "Load Defaults" or "Load Reset to Defaults", select it, press yes and select "save and exit". The PC will restart and the BIOS should be reset to original setting.

Dell inspiron 560 won't recognize network adapter

if there is no netework adapter in device manager or any device that is not instaled try checking in BIOS if it is enabled. sometimes after power loss bios is reset. if it is enabled in BIOS that short power outage probably killed your network adapter. you can add some PCI network adapter and solve your problem.

Hmmm...
Looks like ur Hard disk is not working, OS needs reinstalling , and the power supply that supplies power to ur HD is malfunctioning!

better check ur BiOS and read ur check ur HD if it registers in ur BiOS and set ur BiOS to DEFAULT!

Dell Inspiron 530s/531s desktop, Win. Xp home...Windows stops responding at the ''Loading Personal Settings'' cannot boot in safe mode.

try to boot in "Last good known configuration settings" by restarting your pc and then press F8 before windows appear and then select the boot option i mention above. if this not work since you said that it can't boot to safe mode, your other option is to repair the windows or else reformat it. when you repair the windows you must have windows xp home edition cd installer, you load it to your cd/dvd rom and then restart your pc and press F2 or DEL button before windows appear in order to go to setup bios settings. in bios settings, you choose boot order setup and setup first priority to cd/dvd and press F10 by saving the changes and then press any key when you see the prompt so that it can boot up to windows xp home cd installer and then follow screen instruction that you arrive to windows repair option.
