Battery not charging dell inspiron 630m

1
Determine if the laptop battery is defective. While less than 1 percent of batteries are defective, the possibility is still there. If the battery is new and only charges some of the way, it may just require a BIOS update to charge fully. New batteries that refuse to charge at all may be defective. Purchase a new dell inspiron 630m battery to replace the defective one.

2
Test the laptop power adapter to see if it's faulty. Run the laptop directly from the laptop power adapter and without the battery. If the laptop does not work with the adapter plugged in, the adapter is dead and you will need to replace it. The laptop battery may refuse to charge if the adapter is faulty. Charge the battery with the laptop turned off.

3
Insert the laptop battery into another laptop to test it. If the laptop battery charges in another laptop, the laptop's motherboard may be bad. Replacing a motherboard in a computer can be very expensive. If the cost to fix the computer is not worth the cost of replacing the motherboard, consider purchasing a new laptop.

4
Reinstall the battery to ensure all connectors latch properly. The latch mechanism that holds the laptop battery should click into place. If the latch does not close, remove the battery and examine the compartment for signs of damage.

5
Troubleshoot the BIOS to determine if there is a hardware problem. Turn on the laptop and immediately enter BIOS setup by holding down the "Del" and "F1" or "F2" keys, depending on the make and model of the laptop. When the BIOS screen appears, see how long it takes for the battery to charge down. If the battery does not last as long as the BIOS setup, a hardware failure may be the problem.

Battery light flashs orange continusly on a dell latitude d620 if i disconnect the power cord the computer shuts down

Two possible causes for flashing Amber battery light.
    1) Your battery won't charge and needs to be replaced.
    2) Your charging circuit for the battery is defective and then your motherboard of laptop will need to be replaced.

    Hi!

Most likely the problem is situated in the power supply part on the mainboard. In order to be sure, please post again a comment and tell me if the laptop works if battery removed and only on external power.

My battery light flashes 4 times orange and 1 time green. It will run on the ac adapter. But the battery icon says that the battery is at 0 percent. what is the problem?

You can try removing the battery and unplugging the power cable for 5 mins. Charge the battery for 8 hrs. Tried running notebook with battery only. If it will not turn on, make sure you contacted dell for the BIOS firmware update before replacing it. You can also visit their support site for the latest BIOS firmware http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~ck=mn

    BATTERY PROBLEMS?

    Hi

Latitude D620 battery module has a battery charge tester. First remove the battery or turn the laptop over and press the battery icon and the note the battery LED indication.

If there is no LEDs lite, shut down the laptop, connected the power Adaptor, install the battery and check if the battery charge LED lites up.

If it doesn't double check the power Adaptor. Latitude D620 is rated to use a 90W Adaptor. There is a 60W Adaptor (looks very similar to) but this is for other Latitudes and AMD Vostro systems.

    If the Adaptor has the correct rating, then check below for more info;

    1) [Very Likely] The battery may be faulty or end-of-life and needs replacing. Check the battery connector on the Latitude and battery itself for any broken or bent pins or bits.

    2) [Possible] You have the wrong power Adaptor or the Adaptor is faulty. This however would not explain why the battery is undetected.

Start up the Latitude into System BIOS (F2). Under System > Battery information check the battery and AC Adaptor status

If the Latitude D620 has warranty you may open a warranty claim with Dell Support.
