Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Error message code F1

Our washer gets an "F1" error message when it's got 17 minutes remaining in the complete cycle. any ideas?

Cliff
I've been having the "F1" error problem for over 1 week now. I have to pause and restart cycle several times, and it also stops during the rinse cycle. I called Whirlpool as suggested, and they offered parts and said I have to pay labor because my warranty has expired. I will file a complaint with BBB and see what happens. In the meantime, I need to do my laundry, so I have agreed to have someone come and fix my washer.

I also have the same error code (F1) appearing on my Cabrio washer. Each time the water starts to run, at the beginning of the wash cycle and beginning of rinse cycle, the machine stops and the error appears. If I repeatedly pause and start the machine it will run. My 15 year old machine caused less problems than my 2 year old machine!

We have the same problem with our two year old Whirlpool Cabrio washer. The F1 reading shows at the beginning of the wash and rinse cycle as the two other comments said.

I read that if an error reading occurs on electronics, Televisions etc, unplug the electronic overnight and this will reset the electronic. Deciding we had nothing to loose, even though a washer is not technically an electronic, I tried this with the washer but it did not work. Very frustrating. I agree, less problems with our older set than this new set. Our warranty has also expired.

Those Whirlpool engineers are very clever...set it up so that after so many loads, the error readying occurs, chances are people do not buy the extended warranty....then we are held hostage and forced to pay outrages service, labor and parts fees.

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio Top Loader Model # WTW6600SW1 which I purchased in November of 2006. It cleans fine and it's efficiency is top ... but it has been very finicky with the trouble codes. Since new, it has periodically given nuisance codes such as slow fill (LF) and slow drain(LD) along with the dreaded F1. After much effort dealing with Whirlpool Customer Support (1-800-253-1301), they agreed to fix the problem(s) at no cost to me ... eventhough the washer is no longer under warranty. You must be persistent with them and demand proper treatement. No one purchases a top of the line washer and expects it to die after two years.

Trouble Code F1 deals with the washer control assembly. In fact, it deals with a tub water level sensor which is built into the control processor. The sensor fails (insensitive to water level) and sets the code. The only option is control board replacement. After testing my unit, the technician ordered a new control assembly and all new factory upgrades for this model. They consisted of a new water distribution ring (to eliminate mystery water spills), a new basket agitator, and and a new tub speed sensor (F51 code).

The parts are expected to arrive in a week and the tech will return in two weeks for the installation of the replacement parts. I was very pleased with the honesty and knowledge of the technician. He basically praised the Cabrio line for their cleaning and efficiency, but did mention the original control board design is very problematic. He would not install an original board (which he had on his van) but insisted on the new revised design.

Don't be rude ... but demand proper treatment. Whirlpool is very aware of this control assembly problem and were willing to resolve it to my expectations.

Not even two years old washer with the F1 code. I called an appliance specialist and I was told it was the control board and it will cost me about $416.00 to fix it. I refused to pay that much to repair a "Top of the line washer". I called Wirlpool custumer service, explained my situation and they agreed to give me 50% off the control board price. That is not was I was looking for, I was expecting more... or should I said I was expecting less problems with such expensive washer.

I have the same problem with my Cabrio Washer WTW6600SW1. I called the number 800-253-1301 for help. of course their system was "down" she couldn't look up any info on a recall concerning the washer. I talked to "jessica" and she was very nice. She told me that I needed to unplug the machine for 15 mins and it shuold correct the problem. We'll see.

Same here. Whirlpool Cabrio, Model WTW6700TW1, Serial CW2271714. F1 Error Code for months now. My 3-year warrantee expired and it will cost $4-500 dollars to fix unless I purchase another warrantee for $349 which will cover parts and labor for one year. I'm forced to do that because I need a washing machine, but I'm mad as heck. There is a class action lawsuit in the works, a petition to sign and a Facebook page telling people not to buy this product: Cabrio Washer by Whirlpool F1 Error Code DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I've called, on-line live chatted, and sent emails to Whirlpool to discuss this F1 error code and in every case they direct me to someone who can tell me more about the warrantee. I don't want to buy another warrantee. I want Whirlpool to man/woman up and stand behind their product. If you Google Cabrio F1 Error Code you'll find all kinds of similar stories.

F1 means the control board is shot. Call whirlpool and they should take care of the parts and labor even though your machine is out of warranty.

HELLO, Error code F1 indicates a control failure and most likely the machine control board will have to be replaced. Depending on when you purchased the machine, the board may be covered under extended component warranty.
I had the same F1 problem and they had to replace the control board and something relating to the balance. The tech told me this is a common problem.

Whirlpool did a recall on this problem here is there number try this first. Whirlpool 1-800-253-1301
On a number of ranges this can mean a number of things, the most common being a failed ERC(EOC, Clock assembly)or a faulty touchpad. Firstly if you are using a recent Maytag range it may pay to test the oven sensor as described above as this may cause an F1 error if faulty (may apply to some other ranges as well) this is not a common cause but is worth discounting. To check the ERC and touchpad
    1. Disconnect the power
    2. Gain access to the back of the ERC
    3. Disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the ERC to the touchpad
    4. Check nothing will short when power is reconnected
    5. reconnect the power and switch on
    6. Watch for F1 and listen for the beep
    7. If you get the F1 and the beep this means the fault is with the ERC and it will need replacing
    8. If after 30 mins you do not see the F1 error and hear the beep, replace the touchpad

WRONG POWDER'S, TO MANY POWDERS IN PUMP PUT ONE TEASPOON OF OIL IN WHERE THE POWDERS SHOULD GO AND RUN CYCLE AND THAT WILL DESROY THEY SUDS AND ONLY USE HIGH EFF DETRG. FROM NOW ON, IF THAT DONT FIX PROBL YOU HAVE SOMETHING STUCK IN YOUR PUMP, YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE TECH TO TAKE YOUR FRONT OFF MACHINE AND GO INTO PUMP WHICH IS EASY AND REMOVE ITEM, PROBL SOCK, OR UNDYS. I HAD THIS PROBL WITH MINE.
