Problem for Canon PIXMA MX700 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Telephone / fax problem
I have the Canon Pixma MX700 All-In-One Inkjet printer: Occasionally, when talking on the phone - after about 10-15 minutes, sometimes longer, all of a sudden the fax-tone goes on and it's nearly unbearable and usually I'm not anywhere near the printer and have to run and try to get the excrutiating noise to stop by turning the printer off. Usually, I end up having to hang up and call the person back. Why does this happen and how can I stop it from continuing to happen?

The issue regarding the serial number never comes up on the site page for that model.

- I have the exact problem described. I received email from Canon about the existance of the problem on a few of their models and was directed to go online to the Canon site for the fix. When I click on the fix for the MX700 model, the site takes you to a page for that model where you are told there are no new downloads. There is no existence of a fix on the site page.- wirzy618Solution #2

Not sure what to set this machine up to for phone call priority. We don't recieve many faxes, so I have set it up as Telephone Priority. When I answer the phone the fax noise starts almost straight away and the sound is unbearable and embarrassing for us as a business. Can you suggest the correct settings and how can we stop the fax noise coming through?

Go to:

Select Multifunction: Inkjet: MX700
I then had to change the "http:" to "https:" and reload the page so that the downloads appeared when I chose to see them. Select your Operating System (OS). Downloads will appear. You want the one that looks like this if you have XP, etc.:
MX700 Firmware Upgrade Utility Ver. 1.080 (Windows Vista/XP/2000) fumx700swin1080en.exe 1.080 7.45 MB 08/22/2008
Then choose Run or Save.
