Are you using the internal speakers?

Plug in an external set of speakers and see it the sound clears up or stays the same.

If the external are clear, then your internal speakers are bad.

If your external speakers do the same thing, you probaly need to re-install the audio drivers.

System checked - drivers updated - no sound from speakers. What is the best sound card for a dell dimension E510 computer?

completely depends on what you are using it for, if you are just using it as a standard user for listening to music, gaming etc any 5.1 PCI card will do. If you want to use specialist software for editing etc you may want to go up market?

To connect a music player or other audio device to your laptop
If your laptop has a line-in jack, follow the instructions above for connecting a music player to a desktop computer. But to connect a music player or other audio device to most laptops, you'll have to plug it into a microphone jack. To do so, follow these steps:

Click to open Sound.

Click the Recording tab, click Microphone, and then click Properties.

Click the Listen tab, click the Listen to this device check box, and then click Apply.

Click the Levels tab and make sure the Mute button looks like this . If the button looks like this , click it to turn on sound for this connection, and then click Apply.

Play some music or other sounds on your device to test the volume coming through your computer speakers. Select the slider under Microphone, drag it right or left to increase or decrease the volume of your audio device, and then click OK. You might also want to adjust the volume on your device.

Note
If you hear noise coming out of your speakers, try reducing the volume on both the music player and in the Levels tab. The microphone jack is designed to receive sound from a microphone, which is different than sound coming from a music player

I use to have sound before my computer was shipped across the country. Could the sound card have gotten damaged or do I need to do a download. Want to listen to my music.

go to control panel....find system icon...click it......then find device manager, click there....see if there is a yellow exclamation mark , if so turn off pc ,open the case and make sure the sound card(where your speakers plug in is tight into the board by pressing you shouldnt be able to see any gold color connections out of the slot. afterhourspc_0.jpgshould look like this!!
If it doesnt or you dont have the card your audio may have been damaged by the transit(temperature change, static, rough treatment ) and may need to purchase a new PCI SOUND CARD. good luck

Hey, I've got an HP Compaq D530 SFF desktop machine whose sound card uses the SoundMAX drivers. The problem is that when I connect earphones/headphones on the front panel, and try to listen to music or...

if you go to the bios (restart computer and press del to go to setup) you should be able to look around and find the option for internal speaker. Set that option to disable and do not change anything else unless you know your way around. Save it and restart afterwards and it should disable the internal speakers.

Will it harm my laptop to listen to music on it every night all night?

No, it will not harm your laptop, it might harm your ears if you listen to it too loud through headphones. The only possible damage could occur if you listen through the laptops speakers, too loud and constant would adversly wear out the speakers.

Crackling Speakers

Hello,

That because maybe due to your itunes player which the installation got error..please try another player other than Itune or play it in windows media player or some other player which you think good player.

Or try reinstall your player or update it.

if this not resolve the issue, then verify the connection of your sound card maybe got grounded to other components making the sound crackle..Or you may try attached a grounding wire from your stuff directed to the ground or attached in any metal that is connected to the ground to eliminate noise.

please tell me what ever result for further analysis
