Question about Pioneer Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I bought a head unit about a year ago now. My boyfriend borrowed it and used it for his car. The screen flips down and when it does you can see that the (ribbon) wires are completely snapped in half. I was wonderin if you can fix this or not. The head unit is still perfectly fine but these wires make it not work. It is a DEHP7850BT.

Yes you can accually just cute the plastic off the wires and then tie them together and put electric tape on it and it should work just fine

Dvd screens in headrests are not getting power

The problem seems to be that the video out from the kenwood head unit is either faulty or the leads from the head unit to the monitors are faulty. Have you checked to see that the head unit when playing a DVD is set on ZONE 2 so that it transfers the video signal to the headrest monitors?

My Cell Phone Is Blank!

I had the same problem with my Razr V3, it was way out of warranty so I had a go at fixing it, and it wasn't too hard.
(I had the blank/off screen problem but the rest of the phone seemed functional)

I took off the rubber pegs on the inside of the flip-screen to reveal the screws. They need a T5 screwdriver head (tiny star shape). I removed all 4 from that side.
I then 'forced' the back casing of the flip-screen off (side with camera). The key is to open the end furthest from the hinge, then it will simply lift off.
(I read a complicated guide suggesting that you use something like a creditcard to slide it off, I'd give that a go first as I did do some scratch damage when using the screwdriver)
Once open (might be dusty), there was a thin 'belt' coming through from the main part of the handset (by the hinge), it has a black square on it. This was simply flailing about, so I inserted it securely back into it's socket (the only place it can go, same shape)
[I guess thats the power supply to the screen]
I would re-attach the back panel hinge end first (camera end).
Then simply screw it back together.

The T5 screwdriver isn't everyday stuff, most sets only go down to T10 it seems. Maybe if you have family friend who fixes things you could borrow one. Apparently those types of screws are used somewhere in cars so maybe a mechanic or car-person?
(I was a bit narrow-minded and frantically bought a little set for £5)
Hope that helps.

Our borrowed Flip (Ultra?) seems to be frozen ON.

I have the same problem and found something that kinda worked for me. Hopefully it'll work for someone else. Turn on the flip while holding down the - key. It should power up normally and allow you to view/record etc. Several videos say "Invalid Format" or something like that on the screen, but most are ok and I can record. Better than a completely dead one.

Does it have the three rings of death? Microsoft extended the warranty to three years so send it in to them.

Remote works, but not the reciever

This one is tough one. It soundslike you have lost the connection between the flip face and the main head unit. I suggest you pull the head unit and get it to a bench for closer investigation. Look for and tears in the connecting wire harness between the Flip control, and the main Unit.
