How can I access missing pictures on my memory card?
I had about 1800 pictures on my camera, when I tried to transfer them to my laptop, it said there were only 225. I uploaded them onto my laptop, and deleted them on my camera. There are 1600 pictures left on my Olympus memory card that I can't access through either my camera or laptop When I turn the camera on playback, it says that there are no photos. However the card is 2GB, and shows I only have space for 224 pictures. Is there any way that I can recover these pictures so I can reformat the card?
Re: How can I access missing pictures on my memory card?
OK! You can try my ways to get back your original
photos as many as possible: 1). Immediately pick out the inner memory card of your digital camera
in case that any newly taken picture would rewrite your original photos. 2). Insert this memory card to your computer via a card Reader and
prepare to retrieve all your deleted pictures. 3). Apply a deleted photo
recovery freeware to retrieve all your deleted photos back successfully: http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-recovery-after-delete.html
I believe this data recovery freeware can
work perfectly on your camera memory card just in the same way as it completely
retrieves all the deleted data of my friend off from his phone memory card.
Just give it a shot! 4). Save and back up all the restored photos on a different memory card
or drive in case of data recovery failure. Note:
Never forget to back up everything important at
least on two memory cards or locations in the future.
Good luck!

Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. Here's a YouTube video of your freeware options:

Many laptops have an SD card reader. If you do have one, you will need an SD adapter to plug the card in and then to put it in the laptop's card reader. If you do not have one on your laptop you will need to buy an SD card reader and an SD adapter.
Alternatively, you can try putting the microSD card into your phone or digital camera (if it does support one) and connect your phone/camera to the computer to access the data on the card.
You can do it through computer, using a memory card reader or there are many new laptops are with a inside memory card reader too, then you can transfer pictures from the camera memory and to the memory card.
Connect you camera to the computer using the USB cable. It will be shown as a removable drive(If the autorun is enabled windows should list the option to transfer pictures.Choose this option if it does so). Open the drive and and transfer the pictures to your computer.
R12 is telling you that you have 12 pictures remaining in its internal buffer ... if it continues to show that then it is having trouble transfering to the memory card ... it is possible that you have a fake memory card or maybe a bad one (or ouch a bent pin in the camera) .. there are lots of fake cards around now ... if the card has worked in the past you might want to reformat it or check it on your computer .. unfortunatly its not hard to bend a pin inside your camera if the CF card is inserted wrong ... you can look in the slot with an led flashlight .. there should be no missing or bent pins ..

Make sure you have an SD memory card inserted and your camera is on. Press the Play button to view your images. Now press menu and scroll down to the copy feature. You have two options, copy from camera to memory card is on top, and from memory card to camera is on the bottom. Once you select your option, choose your pictures and copy.
Do you want the pictures transferred to your memory card? that depends on the option available on the camera, try inserting the memory card. select a picture then check options if you can move it to a memory card. if not, download it to a computer and transfer it to the memory card folder.
A card access error may indicate that an xD-Picture Card memory card is in a write-protected condition. xD-Picture Card memory cards have a special protection feature to ensure that your pictures are kept safe.
NOTE:
During this condition, you can still use the printer for printing and saving photos from the xD-Picture Card to a secure location, such as the computer hard drive.
To resolve this error, try the following:
Reinsert the xD-Picture Card memory card into your camera and turn on the camera. In most cases, the camera automatically makes the necessary changes.
Reformat the xD-Picture Card memory card. See the documentation that came with your camera for instructions on reformatting the memory card. Note that this process erases the pictures currently saved to your memory card. To save these pictures, transfer them to the computer before reformatting the memory card. Once you reformat the memory card, transfer those photos back to the memory card using the computer.
Once you took pictures without a memory card, all pictures taken will automatically be saved on the INTERNAL MEMORY of the camera.
When taking pictures with a memory card, all pictures are just saved on the memory card itself.
If you are seeing 100-757 on the LCD screen. It means that there are already 757 pictures taken from the first time you've used the camera.
It is possible that some of the pictures are in the internal memory and some are in the memory card.
STEPS to DOUBLE CHECK:
1) Remove memory card out of the camera - Turn on camera - View pictures on the internal memory by just pressing on the PLAY mode button
(lowest of the 3 little buttons) - Pictures seen are just the ones saved on the internal memory
2) Return memory card back in the camera - Turn on camera - View pictures on the internal memory by just pressing on the PLAY mode button (
lowest of the 3 little buttons) - Pictures seen are just the ones saved on the memory card itself
*** If you want to transfer pictures on the internal memory of the camera to your MEMORY CARD, you just have to follow the steps below:
- Make sure there is a memory card inside the camera - Turn on camera - Press on PLAY mode button to view pictures - Press MENU/OK button - Keep scrolling to the right until you see COPY TO CARD - Select YES using the arrow keys - Press MENU/OK to confirm * When you've done these steps, all pictures from the INTERNAL MEMORY of the camera will be copied to your MEMORY CARD but it depends on the space left on your memory card
** If still, you could not view the pictures, it's possible that the pictures are really gone when you have transferred the previous pictures to your computer.
** Once you have transferred pictures to your PC, and you have deleted those on your camera, the FILE NAME of the pictures will not start from 100-001 again unless you have reset the file name on the settings of your camera.
In example, i already have 256 pictures on my camera so the filename reads 100-256 for the last picture taken. And then i decided to transfer those 256 pictures to my PC and i deleted those immediately after being transferred. So, as i took another picture, FILENAME will start with 100-257 if i have not reset the FILE NAME settings to 100-001.
