Can you try to make a copy using the copy button on the printer operator panel? If you're not able to make a copy, it could be hardware problem in the scanner/copier system. You can try to unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it. Then try to scan or copy again using the buttons on the printer. What is the operating system on your computer? Make sure to set your Lexmark X2250 printer as your default printer in the Control Panel (for Windows) or in the system preferences (for Mac). It might be caused by debris or marks on the scanner glass. Use a clean, soft, moistened cloth to thoroughly clean and remove any marks or debris on the glass. If the "black lines" still appear, reseat the cartridges in the printer. If the problem continues, contact Lexmark technical support. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.

When you press the "scan" button on the lexmark, the scanner is trying to connect to a specific software program that in this case you may not have installed.

You will want to try to test the scanner driver directly.
For windows XP and Vista, try the following.

1. Open your start menu
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select "scanners and cameras"
NOTE: for windows Vista, make sure you are in "classic view" to see scanners and cameras.
4. Check whether there is the lexmark listed in this window.

For windows 7, you will need to do something a little different.

1. Open your start menu
2. go to All programs
3. Open "windows Fax and scan"
4. Click on "new scan".
5. Check whether there is the lexmark listed in this window.

If there is no lexmark, you need to check the lexmark website for drivers. If the lexmark is there, try double clicking the icon to run the scan wizard.

You must have a CD.

Make sure the scanner is unlocked.

Try copying from ADF and scanner glass.

Was your old computer XP and the new one Vista?

maybe your scanner have a major trouble or factory defect...i suggest to bring that to the center for repair i think theirs one component has malfunction.

I believe you have to push the scan button in order for it to scan and save. The copy buttons will only print either a black copy or a color copy.
