Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

I have an HP deskjet 6980. I have had it for over a year but a couple days ago I changed the black ink cartrigde and an orange light stayed on while a message read that the door was open. This printer operates wirelessly and I can see it on the network, so it is not a network problem. I cannot see what door is open. The black lid over the black cartridge seems to have snapped shut and I dont figure that is the problem. The long and short is that I cannot get to print anything.Please help -Anthony

Here is the solution. Sorry the expert above was vague. (Sorry mate but it is hard to believe you are an expert when you can't write properly or spell even close. Good luck in the future if you work hard and improve your skills)

Following below is the thread from a forum that used the above solution and their results. All worked with step 2 from above once it was verified that there is no paper jam.

Also don't waste your time with HP support. They know nothing of their own tech bulletin.

Opwn the beck side of your printer then check htere is not any paper jam.
try to power off aghain .
and also try to checnge the cartidge in its right position.

This is all HP recommends for the HP Deskjet 2460, so I wouldn't suggest buying anything else. First of all it might not fit and second, even if it fits, other issues may come with using those. If you can't see the list here it is:

I have an HP Deskjet 6980. After changing the black ink cartridge i tried to print. The printer takes the paper but doesnt print, just the Power and the resume lights are blinking. If I press the resume...


The printer might be working but the cartridge is not connected properly. Just open your printer, remove the cartridge and replace it back in its right position.

Orange cartridge keeps flashing after cartridge


Are you using a factory new HP ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
Also take a moment and make sure that all of the protective tape coverings have been removed from the cartridge.

How to change black ink cartridge of HP Deskjet 6980


Lift the cover up.

The ink jet carriage should park in the center of the carriage.

Gently lift on the front of the ink jet until it removes. Some you have to lift up and some you have to lift down on. Just be careful.

HP inkjet cartridges tell you on the front of the stick by a dot weather it is tri color or black.

HP DeskJet 722c orange ink light flashing


Try changing the color cartridge. Also it is a good idea to clean the electrical contacts if it looks dirty.Use slightly damp(use water only) q-tips .
