If this is new, I would suggest pulling your hard drive and letting the factory take care of it. It's a shame your having this type of issue with a new system.

Lets try something first though. Boot the laptop with your vista disc in it and hit any key when it tells you to. After windows loads, it should give you options, choose repair startup. This is of course if you performed this right. The computer is not going to give you a alot of time to choose when it says hit any key to boot from cd, so watch close. As soon as you see the Toshiba screen tap F12, this will bring up a one time boot order change menu, arrow down to the cd/dvd drive and select it by hitting enter, the computer will reboot and will try to boot from the cd. This is where you have to be watching for the hit any key message. If you get to the point where windows is loading files off the cd, there may be hope we can take care of this here. First try to repair the start....reboot and let the computer reboot without the disc....if it does not do it all again and this time choose to restore the computer to another time and pick a day or two before the problem. choose ok and let the laptop reboot and restore. See if it will reboot onits own, if it does, great.....if not get back to us.

A305 keeps rebooting

You could have a few different issues.

1. You have a driver issue. Try running windows repair from Microsoft install disk.
2. Possible power supply issue.
3. Bad hard drive. Possible bad sectors. Nothing to do here but replace hard drive.

Try disconnecting all hardware in system except hard drive and video card. This will include network cards and any other peripherals. Try to boot up.

Desktop keeps rebooting, not the system, just the desktop

Hi
Sorry to hear about this happening. What was the last true function that your computer done that was "correct"?

From run type
cmd,
restore option from Start; all programs; asscessories; system restore.

From run, type msconfig will show you the programs you are running. might be able to locate the file you mention above.

You seem to be onto things (though your problem classification was generic instead of for your Toshiba model A305.) Install all the updated drivers for your laptop from the laptop's support site (Toshiba's, that is) so you can use your drive. Drives fail sometimes, and you could try sticking an old movie or something in there instead of nothing, but it is likely it is just the missing driver.

Built-in speakers suddenly don't work. Toshiba Satellite A305-S6825. Using Vista. Drivers are current...speakers not muted...checked hardware in control panel...no problems. Help...thanks

I've had to deal with this SO MANY times! Go into control panel -system -hardware -device manager to look for the problem (should have a red or yellow "X") (if something is wrong with the driver, which is what has always happened to me for no reason whatsoever!). So, just delete & reboot; this should reinstall the driver. Hope this helps!
