If you're lucky it will respond to code 10178, if not then you will need a rc64 directv remote and try the proview codes. The proview codes are worthless in any other directv remote other then the rc64 series.

FYI folks at ELEMENT Electronics advise to use code for GOLDSTAR or try 0030 or 0004 to program DTV remote

    Todd Gale Oct 04, 2008

time for you to do a codesearch, try searching by volume with tv on:
    1. tv
    2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
    3. enter 9 9 1, wait two blinks
    4. enter 1
    5. press and release the VOL UP key
    6. with tv on and remote pointed at it, keep pressing and releasing the CH UP key, if and when the volume changes
    7. press SELECT to lock in code
If you dont get a positive response, then you know for sure there isn't a code to find.

The remote manual instructions worked with my Element LCD2610 model.
Keep hitting the ch up/down button until you have done it 298 times
then hit the volume button and it will change. Then press select. All
functions work on my RC64 remote now. Still do not know what code
    # 298 is but the remote works.

Addressing to Other Equipment Using Power ScanNote: After this procedure is started and a button is not pressed within 20 seconds, the remote will end the procedure automatically. Simply start over again.

    1. Verify the remote is a DISH Network remote. Look for the DISH Network logo on the bottom of the remote and Mode buttons or lights at the top. Why?

We have the codes for all DISH Network remotes and would be happy to help you with your DISH Network manufactured remote. Please contact the manufacturer of your remote for further assistance. Detailed instructions may be included in the owners' manual that came with your equipment. If not, there may be a toll-free technical support number listed.

    2. With the desired equipment on, press and hold the correct Mode button until all mode button backlights illuminate (about 3 seconds), then release.
    3. For AUX mode Power Scan ONLY: press 0 for a TV, press 1 for a VCR/DVD, press 2 for any other device, then press *.
    4. Press and release the Power button.
    5. Press the Up button once per second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
    6. Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
    7. To verify the code works try several different functions for that equipment.

Please follow the steps below to program your remote control to equipment other then your DISH receiver:
Note: If you start this procedure and at any time and do not press a button within 20 seconds, the remote will end the procedure automatically. Simply start over again. Use the TV button for your TV, the VCR button for your VCR or DVD player. These Mode buttons are located at the top of your remote control.

    1. With the desired equipment on, press and hold the correct Mode button until all mode button backlights illuminate, then release.
    2. Press the numbers 5-0-0 on the remote control.
    3. Press the Pound (#) button on the remote.
    4. Press and hold the correct Mode button until all mode button backlights illuminate, then release.
    5. Press and release the Power button on the remote control.
    6. Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
    7. Press the Pound (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
    8. To verify the code works try several different functions for that equipment.
We cannot guarantee our remotes will work all other devices. If this does not correct the issue, unfortunately our remote will not work for that device. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

You can try the following procedure to find the TV's code:

  1. PRESS the device, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 0.
  4. PRESS 1, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (1st digit)
  5. PRESS 2, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (2nd digit)
  6. PRESS 3, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (3rd digit)
  7. PRESS 4, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (4th digit)
If the remote DOES NOT blink it means the number is 0.
This is your 4-digit setup code.

If that does not work, try the following procedure to search for your code. (If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when you reach the end of all the codes for this device type.)
  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV) then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.
After getting the proper codes from your manual or Customer Service, use the following instructions to enter them into your remote.

  • PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV) then RELEASE.
  • PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  • ENTER the 4 digit code for your brand.
  • You should receive 2 quick flashes after entering your code.
  • PRESS the POWER button to test the code.

  • Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please post them here.

If you are satisfied with my solution or have no further queries, please take a moment to "Accept" this solution.

I need a code for my element tv for the dish remote

Hi there! This is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customer service. I was reading through the questions posted here and wanted to see if I could be of assistance to you. :) We have a few different codes for each of our different IR remotes, so I will give you the remote codes that work the best for the most common remotes that we have. For the 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 IR remotes the best codes are 627 and 659. For our 5.0, 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4 IR remotes the best codes for the Element TV are 627 and 902. I would also like to list for you the instructions for addressing your remote to your Element TV. I hope you find these codes and instructions useful. If you have any further questions regarding this issue or any other issue please feel free to post back here or email me at Cheri.Torres@Dishnetwork.com.

Instructions for addressing your DISH remote to your TV

    1. Turn the Television On.
    2. Press and Hold the TV mode button for three seconds until all of the mode buttons light up. Once you release the TV button it should flash.
    3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
    4. Press the pound(#) button once. Note: The LED will flash three times.
    5. Test functionality with the TV
    6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

    Bought new Vizio 55"

Had same problem - turned off Adaptive Lumina, Backlight control, and Ambient light sensors on the Vizio advanced picture settings and the Dish remote now works. Vizio was emitting an infared signal that interfered with the Dish remote signals with these settings on. TV still works and looks just fine... But best of all Dish remote works too.
