How to unlock DVD player

Somehow the DVD player has become locked - there is a red key on the display unit. We can't find the handbook to help us. There is no key which says C.Lock as suggested in some of the online solutions. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Gwyneth

In the dvd is a red key light and say safe how i can take it out

The only thing I can find in the manual for this model regarding your question about a key is 'parental control' (page 21) for the DVD. The DVD section may have a password on it, and has long since been forgotten or misplaced. You can try to unlock the player by doing the following:

If you forget your 4-digit password:

To clear the current password, follow the procedure below.

1 Press [ SETUP ] on your remote to display the setup menu.

2 Enter the 6-digit number 210499 and then press [ SELECT/ENTER ].

The 4-digit password is cleared.

3 Enter a new password as shown on page 21 of the user manual. (Rating).

If you do not have your original user manual, you can download the pdf free from:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Zenith-XBV342-DVD-Players-manual/id/374dj497/t/2/

(copy and paste link into your browser and follow the site prompts)

My guess is that the 'key' is a parental lock icon. I assume the VCR part is usable.

I hope this helps a tad. If not, then you have some other unknown problem which is not outlined in the user manual, and therefore may require workshop attention.

Key lock is on

There's a slide switch on the top of the unit, near the headphone jack. Slide it away from the jack to unlock the unit.

Key locked

Try unlocking it by switching the switch on top, of the player by the earphone plug, from red/orange to white.

Locked dvd tray.

To unlock, manually press and HOLD the open/close button & the stop button simultaneously, and HOLD them both down until the lock picture disappears.   The DVD will eject when you press the open/close button.

To lock the DVD inside the machine, repeat the same step, and it will lock it inside.
