There are viruses that attack the boot sector and make changes to the BIOS in such a way that makes the System not to boot. The best way to work around this problem is to remove the Hard drive and connect it to a desktop motherboard as a slave. If you dont know how to do this, get a Computer technician to help you out. When you login with the desktop, gain access to your hard drive

This is what we call a BIOS password, I have worked in the PC repair field for years, and this is something that you are simply not able to "crack" or get around. There are a couple things you can try though, if you can find an locate the BIOS BATTERY inside the notebook, you can pull it out, and SOMETIMES it will reset that password....this is very rare, and you only mostly see this is older computers that it actually works. Two questions: Is this used? Is it still under warranty? (check by going to Toshiba.com) Hope this helps!

When i turn on my computer a black screen pops up saying enter current password._ Unable to use f2 or f12 What am I supposeed to do

Hi

You could try to start up in safe mode ( quite often f8 ) sign in as administrator and cancel the password

Also if you get into safe mode try a system restore back to when it was ok

Or hit delete key a few times when starting up hopefully this will take you into the bios because the f12 or f2 key may be disabled

Be very careful what you change in your bios because on a laptop its not very easy to change jumpers on bios battery so only enable the f2 or f12 then hit save and exit windows will then restart

But be very very carefull not to play around in the bios if you dont understand it you may end up with BIG BIG Problems

When pc boots up, it asks for only password

It would appear that someone got into the BIOS and set a supervisor password, and this will keep you from logging on.
Possibly a way to fix this is to remove the CMOS battery from the machine to clear the CMOS. In a laptop, it can be difficult to find this battery. In the best of worlds, you can remove the battery and look up into the case to see if the battery is visible. Otherwise, you'll have to open the case to find it.
