Question about Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX Personal Web Camera

It restarts! Everytime i try to record a video with my Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX it restarts the computer! What is wrong?

Could be a corrupted usb driver or even the camera driver. Try to update your drivers. If that is not the case your camera could be broken or a bad usb connection on the motherboard. if thats the case you can get a pci usb card to replace the corrupted one.

Logitech quickcam communicate stx will not save videos


Make sure your really recording a video and you have enough hard drive space for saving the recorded video on your computer. You might have to reinstall also the webcam software to resolve this recording problem.

How do i install my quickcam communicate STX


Hello my friend, kindly follow the following steps:
1. Insert the CD driver of your Logitech Quickcam
2. Goto the CD/DVD drive and find the setup.exe and run it.
3. Follow the installation guide wizard to complete the installation process.
4. If the system requires to restart your computer then restart it otherwise try to test the Webcam to see if you have installed the right and correct driver.

Verify the QuickCam Communicate STX is functional:
  1. Launch QuickCam software (Start > Programs > Logitech > Logitech QuickCam)
  2. Verify that you can see yourself in the QuickCam window as shown below:

Logitech Communicate STX videos plays back static!


Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.

I've bought a logitech quickcam communicate STX. When I installed it first it worked fine. Someone unpluged it from the usb port and it wouldn't work. I re-installed the drivers and it was fine again but...


The microphone may not work because of a hardware or configuration problem. To determine if it's a hardware problem, test the microphone in Sound Recorder.

  1. Click "Start," > "Programs" ("All Programs" for Windows XP) > "Accessories" > "Entertainment" > "Sound Recorder."
  2. Click the Record button and speak into the microphone of the camera. You should see the green line move, indicating the application is picking up sound.
  3. Click the Stop button.
  4. Click the Play button. If there is no sound at playback, check to make sure the correct device is selected.
    1. Click "Edit," then "Audio Properties."
    2. Make sure Logitech is listed as the Preferred device for "Sound recording."
The microphone may also be defective. To test this, try the camera on another USB enabled system.
If you can record sound in Sound Recorder, but not in the QuickCam application, try setting the Logitech Microphone as the Preferred device in Audio Properties.

You would be surprised at how many people don't realize that each application has it's own configuration screen.

It's not the end-users fault - like you said... the instructions could be a BIT more clear.
