Do you have any flash drives or external drives connected? If so unplug them and try to reboot. If not check to see if the hard drive is firmly in place sometimes they can come un hooked and that error will appear.

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.
Is there a hard disk installed inside the computer? try reconnecting it.
The motherboard, the hard drive, or the connector could be faulty in this case.
Remember to unplug and remove battery if you open the laptop, the hard drive is in most cases in the bottom under a cover with few screws or in some dells its on the side with few screws and comes out from the side instead from the bottom.
If you just bought the laptop, then it is still covered by a warranty. Then all you have to do is contact the seller or directly to dell. This is the fastest and most appropriate way, and usually you will get one-to-one replacement (they will replace your laptop with new one). But, please make sure by contacting Dell.
The issue you are having is that your computer is not seeing the harddrive or the boot drive. This could be a simple fix from the bios by telling the computer what device it needs to boot from which in this case is your hard drive.
You say that it did work and it was working how long ago was that? It also could be more serious in which you hard drive has crashed or exceeded its MTBF (which means "mean time before failure").
