My Zune Won´t turn on

In september I bought a zune 30gb, and came back to Brazil.

I heard it one time and in the second time that I was used it , it´s don´t turn on... I put to charge the battery in my pc and the zune turn of and never again turn on . Here in Brazil we don´t have support to repair or change it and I don´t know what to do.

Can be a virus? or something like that? I'm having the same problem I plugged my zune into the laptop in the living room and then I remembered the hub port on the laptop isn't good so I took it into the office room and plugged it into the old computer. Now it wont do anything, won't charge, won't turn on, nothing...

My zune just turned off on its own and now it wont turn on, or charge or anything. Even when i plug it into a different computer, it still wont work.

I was listening to my zune in my car...battery was charged and it just turned off all of a sudden. I haven't been able to turn it back on. Tried resetting and still nothing. Do I need to get a new one? Any ideas?

    Thank you.

this sucks people are having the same problem everywhere with the zune. the zune seems like a really cool product and all of a sudden it does this.

  • tadow Feb 06, 2009

i plugged my zune to the computer and nothing appeared. what can i do? how do i fix it?

  • Anonymous Mar 28, 2009

I have the same problem. Im in Brazil too and there's no way to fix it here. My zune is fully charged but if i turn it off (by pressing the keys back + pad_down) after a night, it won't turn on again unless I plug it in my laptop again. That is ridiculuous.

On this model there are also issues with the dock connector, lock at the bottom and move the dock connector with the tip of the ballpen. if it is loose ore ther are bent pins, that is your issue. You may need to replace it. there is a zune repair guide if you want to do it yourself or have a tech savy friend help you.

I bought a battery replacement kit on ebay and installed it yesterday and prest it works again. Too bad the people at Mircosoft won't tell you to do that. They tell you to give them $130 and send it in and they'll fix it. The kit cost me about $5.00 including shipping. Good Luck, hope this solves the problem.

Hi guys,
I just got an update from the team that I want to share with you. Great news! It looks like this issue will resolve itself over the next 24 hours. Please read the response below. Thank you all for your extreme patience with this!

Early this morning we were alerted by our customers that there was a widespread issue affecting our 2006 model Zune 30GB devices (a large number of which are still actively being used). The technical team jumped on the problem immediately and isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year. The issue should be resolved over the next 24 hours as the time change moves to January 1, 2009. We expect the internal clock on the Zune 30GB devices will automatically reset tomorrow (noon, GMT). By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on. If you’re a Zune Pass subscriber, you may need to sync your device with your PC to refresh the rights to the subscription content you have downloaded to your device.

Customers can continue to stay informed via the support page on zune.net (zune.net/support).

We know this has been a big inconvenience to our customers and we are sorry for that, and want to thank them for their patience.

Q: Why is this issue isolated to the Zune 30 device?
It is a bug in a driver for a part that is only used in the Zune 30 device.

Q: What fixes or patches are you putting in place to resolve this situation?
This situation should remedy itself over the next 24 hours as the time flips to January 1st.

Q: What’s the timeline on a fix?
The issue Zune 30GB customers are experiencing today will self resolve as time changes to January 1.

Q: Why did this occur at precisely 12:01 a.m. on December 31, 2008?
There is a bug in the internal clock driver causing the 30GB device to improperly handle the last day of a leap year.

Q: What is Zune doing to fix this issue?
The issue should resolve itself.

Q: Are you sure that this won’t happen to all 80, 120 or other flash devices?
This issue is related to a part that is only used in Zune 30 devices.

Q: How many 30GB Zune devices are affected? How many Zune 30GB devices were sold?
All 30GB devices are potentially affected.

My zune wont turn on

I turned on my Zune and the screen froze so I turned it off but it would not turn back on.

I went online and read somewhere that if the screen freezes then you should press up and back and wait for the zune insignia to come on. Well my zune was not just frozen it would not go on but I tried the up and back thing and it worked. it took about 9-13 seconds but it worked so give it a chance and if that doesn't work try charging it overnight. Hope that helps :D
