Question about HP Printers & Copiers

Printer is not respponding to commands from the computerI have checkedusb & power leads, turned it off,put in a new cartridge & it still is not printing. All lights on control panel are on.

Disconnect the printer from the computer to isolate it
turn the printer OFF and check for any obstructions inside
now turn the printer back ON while still disconnected from the computer and observe the lights
since you already replaced the inks and if all the lights are still flashing, it's already a hardware failure.

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer ONLY WHEN PROMPTED, to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.

My i550 won't print When I turn it on there's a short grinding noise Then there's a short green flash, then short orange, short green, short orange then longer green This cycle then keeps...

My printer will not print. The check printer cartridge light is blinking. I just put a brand new ink cartridge in. What else could be the problem?

Power down


try removing the printhead and turning on power, if it works you need a new printhead.

Cartridges have small electrical contacts. It sounds as though either the cartridge is faulty or it may have got stuck in the wrong place.

Firstly turn off the printer.

If you are using it with a computer via a usb connector, disconnect the lead from the printer.

Disconnect the power lead from the printer.

Lift the lid to gain access to the cartridges.

Ensure they move freely along the track from right to left.

Remove the cartridges and re-insert them one at a time.

Close the lid, reconnect the power lead and USB connector.

Switch the printer back on.

If you are using it with a PC, your computer should automatically detect it after a few seconds. If it doesn't then restart your PC.

If this does not clear the problem, try new cartridges. If it still does not work, the printer may have a control fault.
