2) Does it support SATA
3)Which HDD should I buy(Say,which brand? and SATA/IDE? and HDD size-e.g.-550gb?)

Any help on thos would be greaty appreciated.

Regards,
Pras

Yes the mother board supports SATA However if you connect large Disks to the SATA connectors they are recognized correctly with full size. So leave your 500g and less HDs on the IDE and the big ones on the SATA. you can check this link for the manual for more information ftp://ftp.chiligreen.com/Desktop/Manuals/manual_a_k8v-mx.pdf hope this helps .thanks and Godbless pls appreciate by rating as fixyaa

Check your BIOS. There's a setting there to change the Drive controller which allows the SATA drive to be recognized.also check the manual i gave you through the link

In the bios the SATA operation setting should be set to ATA mode.
Check for similar setting in your bios for the mode

In the bios the SATA operation setting change it to ATA mode.
Check if there is a setting in your bios for the mode First off, many of the on-board SATA controllers are configured as RAID controllers. If yours is one of these, the first step is to enter the SATA BIOS setup and configure the SATA drive as a single volume RAID array.

The details should be in the user manual for the board.

Next, you often need to install the SATA driver while installing Windows.
Check the driver CD that came with the motherboard, or download the driver from .hope this helps

This motherboard can support up to 500GB size of hard drive, and yes its does support SATA so if you will be buying a new hard drive a recommend you get a Sata hard drive from Seagate or Western Digital they are very reliable when it come to storage durability and dependability, so go ahead buy a 500GB SATA hard drive.....

Hope that helps...............

What is the maxium hard drive will my k8v-x support

You have to limiting factors when determining max HDD size. 1) IDE or SATA interfaces. 2. 32 bit or 64bit Operatings System. With a 32 bit OS you are limited to 2TB per drive. Although I think 500GB is the largest IDE drive you can get.

Hi, I'm having K8V-MX Asus mother board with AMD 3000+ processor wih 1GB DDR ram, with 80 GB PATA Segate HDD connected. After adding 500GB SATA HDD to this mother board, my system performance is very low....

Hi,
Thanks for the details. I have used K8V-MX Asus motherboard and found it very reliable with quite reasonable performance. It definately supports 500 GB Sata drive and there must not be any issues after increasing just the storage. However, Operating System upgrade may result in sluggish performance. Drivers dont seem to be an issue to me either.
I suggest to review a few points detailed as under: -
- K8V-MX Asus Supports RAID, so, check for any RAID Drivers/ settings. (You dont have to use RAID for two Hard Drives of different make, capacity and speed). Try using one disk at a time having same Operating System (e.g. Windows XP) and compare the performance.
- Infact SATA Drives have better data transfer rate than IDE, which results in enhanced performance.
- Some Programs (that you may not be using with 80GB drive) Like antivirus may result in decreased performance.
- Please Review you Operating System environment and software installed. Make sure that the new drive & Operating System are free of any virus, which results in CPU Utilization upto 100%.
- Also, motherboard supports Max 2GB RAM, so you may consider adding more RAM.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

I have K8V-MX motherboard. I am planning to buy a 1TB SATA HDD Will this support ? Thanks! Madhusudan

Your model KV8-MX motherboard does not have a SATA controller.
To install a 1Tb SATA hard drive you need to install a PCI SATA controller and then connect the SATA hard drive to this controller board.
