Lumix dmc-lz5 replace battery

Hello

I like my dmc lz5 very much, durable, trustable...

First time problem here, replace batteries...
New batteries, they work fine in flashlight, even for longer time, but dmc-lz5 displays replace batteries.
After dismounting back panel, I have found inside a button-battery 1 mm thick 6mm diameter,
it turned out it is a special, rechargeable one, it gives 3 v, but it can use a charging voltage as low as 2.8 v.Earlyer I tought this was the problem- because I have used the camera with rechargeable batteries, (those give 2x1.2=2.4 v , less than 2.8 ).I bought alkalines, giving 2x 1.5 = 3 v , but after about 50 pics taken the problem is here again. Now i try to replace the button battery (type panasonic ml-614), hoping this is the problem.

Do you have some idea or similar case?

    Hello

I have already tried a few brands,
With fully charged rechargeables, now it doesn't even open lens.

All batteries were tested and fully functional both in low and high power consumption devices.

    ButtonBattery not aviable yet

Thank you for your wise and kind reply,

But looking at the top line in my browser, it says FIXYA

I just can hope this suggests that this is a place for people to help each other to fix things themselves, and not a place where it is proposed to buy a new one or go to the service station.

    I just can hope...

that someone comes up with a solution, knowing the problem.

    Hello all

    Problem solved

It was a weird battery recognition problem.
It seems altough the right setting(double checked) for alkaline batteries the camera somehow remained in oxyride batt. mode but displaying alakline ni-mh - and thus missed the correct voltage.

The problem solved inserting a pair of oxyride batteries,by this and changing batt setting to oxyride , then again to alkaline ni-mh . Since this it works fine
After the service personnel recommendation, I didn't change micro button batt, no link with problem.

    Good luck

Try replacing the button battery first and see if that helps...Some batteries simply just do not last as long as other brands. Try switching brands (for the regular AA batteries) and see if this also helps..

I think the best thing to do in this case is to either get the camera serviced, or buy a new one, whichever is cheaper..

Well, it will require opening up of the camera, which I cannot do, as I am in Ireland! All we can do at Fixya is offer every possible troubleshooting step we can think of, but actual repairs will have to be done by the customer himself (I thought this was understood). One final thing you can try is to upgrade the firmware . You will have to Panasonic website and download the firmware for your camera. Instructions for upgrading the firmware will be found on the website itself.

PS..Inappropriate rating is reserved only for solutions that have no relation whatsoever to the problem. For example, you ask me what is an apple, and I describe a banana, THAT is inappropriate. It is not a rating for a solution that does not work. I have giving you all possible steps that you can attempt yourself..surely that in not Inappropriate? I would be very grateful if you could at least revise your rating to Thanks For Trying. Although that is still a negative rating, its not so bad as an Inappropriate.

    Thank you for understanding,

Hi,

Make sure you're using an SD card, 2GB and smaller. The DMC-LZ5 will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Panasonic DMC LZ5 shutting down continuously

Krishna sometimes the software in the camera get lost how I do not know. When you pass through metal detectors it can happen. If I put mine down on the car hood the fields of electricity under the hood will cause it not to work. Remove the batteries and wait at least a couple of minutes and put fresh ones or strongly recharged ones back in and it should stop the problem. You batteries could be at fault as well, if they are weak it will cause the same problem

I have a lumix panasonic model DMC-LZ5 when it turns on the battary indicator indicats that the battry is empty although it is fully charged

This is a battery contact problem, the DMC's are horrible for it. Firstly as the previous answer said, take the battery out and clean the 3 copper tops (scrape them with a knife tip to remove ****) and secondly, make sure it is seating well into the battery cavity, you may want to pop a bit of tape on the back end of the battery so it is pushed in a little deeper by the door when it closes.

Video format on Lumix DMC-LZ5

I dont believe it is possible unless you use a converter during the save function. I can not do it any other way. If you figure it out let me know. But I would say it is time to upgrade for me. The new HD mode in some of the newer cameras is much easier to deal with for me.

Cleaned is not the problem. Most of the time it is poor battery. Just becuase the battery says it is charged means nothing. These cameras take a great deal of power compared to other AA devices.
