Question about Star Micronics TSP100 Thermal Printer

TSP100 Hello: I have a TSP100 futureprint that has been working fine. I did not shut off the computer or experience any power problems that I know of. I loaded QB POS ver 6 as usual and I have 2 lights on my printer that won't shut off. Power and Error. I tried turning it off and tried rebooting the computer. I also tried turning off the printer and holding down the feed button while turning off the power. Suggestions??? Thanks. Lenny...

Printer doesn't work, no lights, I made sure cable is connected properly and even tried to connect a cable from different tsp100 - still dead


As per your question it is understood that, your printer is completely dead and you have also made sure the power connections are connected properly but still same issue.
To help you further, it is suggested to try changing the power cord of the printer with new cable.
If issue persists, it is recommended to contact your printer manufacturer if the printer is under warranty or else you can take the printer to the nearest local technician for further help.

My printer shows no power and has NO power switch


If you have a TSP100, it should have a power switch, located on the left side of the printer, halfway back along the base. Here is a link to the manual which shows a picture of the switch location.

We have two star tsp100 printers on our register, one works fine, the produces an error and will not advance the paper, which is in correctly. also, the computer does not recognize the printer anymore...

Ink has run out ??? it no longer prints... TSP100 How do we change the ink roller/cartridge or whatever it requires?


TSP100 Thermal Printer work with a thermosensible paper, there is no ink to change, if the print quality is poor you have to
  • check the paper roller, it can be wrong installed.
  • Check the upper cover if not closed properly close it.
  • check the print head or the pressor roller.

Trying to set up star tsp100 printer as a receipt printer on averasell pos software. Have installed the printer and it prints test page fine. However when I try and do an invoice on averasell the cashdraw...


... For windows 7 YOU MUST go to your printers properties and click the advanced tab and change it from PRINT SPOOL to PRINT DIRECTLY TO PRINTER...

and if you want your receipt to print off to the right size... install a second copy of the STAR TSP100 and set it as (COM3)... (make sure in the properties you change the paper size to 72 X receipt and cut to partial) i'd do it on both copies

as well go in to the virtual port config and add COM 3 and COM 4

then go to the averasel station properties and set cash drawer as com 4 with the generic/text printer and then under invoices set the print drivers as the star tsp100 copy (the one that is on com3)
and set the actual printer as Star Tsp100(the one that is usb)


sorry for the some what confusing step's perhaps someone else can word it better as i do not have the software in front of me right now...


but my end result was a cash drawer that opened
a printer that printed TO THE RIGHT SIZE and not a full page

Receipt is not printing dark enough. Can barely read it...I thought it was thermal and it shouldn't run out of ink. star tsp100 future print


hello, have you cleaned the thermal head with isopropyl alcohol, and a soft cloth, according to user manual, this should be done, being gentle with it.

Star tsp100 printer feeds extra paper


check that the paper type is set to receipt and not ticket in the printer properties: device settings.
