Question about Epson PowerLite 720c Multimedia Projector

Open Question

Epson powerlite 720c projector

Just purchased a used projector and the image has a green line horizontally a little above the halfway point. The portion of the image above the line is lighter than the lower part and the far left portion of the screen has a very red tint to it from top to bottom. The edges of both of these tints do not seem to fade but are pretty definitive. The lamp has 720 hours on it. I am using component video on a 25 foot cord from a dvd player to the computer connection on the projector. I have tried both inputs for component video and this is the best.

Is there hope for my projector or is this a major problem?

SOURCE: greenish tint

Not sure if this is the solution, but I believe the color polarizer filters have been burned. I have a yellow haze circle on mine and I'm pretty sure that's the problem. In my case the blue filter is burned, leaving the red and green stronger yeilding a yellow blur.

SOURCE: The color on my Epson

Two possible solutions:

1) The video mode is set to Component/RGB instead of VGA.

2) The cable you have may have a break inside of it.

Let me know if you find anything.

Images has a blue color across the center

Wow, 3 in a row. As described on 2 other projector issues this is very similar to those others. I'll repeat the info here.

I assume this is an LCD. I don't remember the s4 being a DLP projector.

This sounds like the LCD panel used for the blue color has gone out. The image is made up of red, green and blue images layered upon the screen. If the blue panel has gone out then there is nothing filtering out the red light in the image.

It looks like yours has just a secone of the panel dying or comming loose from it's connector.

It could be a simple open and reconnect fix. I personally have never opened a projector, so I'm not going to walk you through it as I do not know how hard it would be to tinker with. It should eb a cheap fix for a true repair man though.

The projector displays pink or red not full color

Hi GiantBryan

If switching the cables did not work , then this is a faulty Mainboard that will need either repair or replacement as discolouration on a Projector could only be the cables or the Mainboard.
