You might have a backlight issue. Try adjusting the brightness which is done by pressing Fn+up arrow on some laptops. If it doesn't work, try turning the computer on without the battery or the ac adapter or with both. If the screen does not change, you may have to replace your LCD. What's your computer?

If you can hear the sound of Windows starting up, your blacklight probably died. If you can't hear the Windows start up sound, Windows may need to be re-installed. Most likely though, it's a faulty backlight.

Power up computer...hear the windows jingle but the screen is grey

Try connecting an external monitor and see if that gives you video - if that works, your laptop screen may have gone bad and need replacing. If it does not work, check that you are not running in too dark a screen or the wrong mode. I dont know specifically which HP key code changes this but there should be pictures on your "F" keys to indicate this. Remember to push down the"Fn" key at the same time.

I would check the GPU by connecting an external monitor before booting it, that will allow the external drive to automatically work.

Hp 6735sscreen does not come on

Step 1:
An inverter is an electrical device on the bottom of your laptop screen. The job of the inverter is to convert DC electrical current to AC voltage to maintain power to the backlight lamp. If the display on your laptop is dark but working, odds are the inverter or the lamp are at fault. When troubleshooting monitor problems on a laptop, you may need to evaluate the inverter to determine which of the two parts is malfunctioning.

Remove the screen bezel on your laptop. The bezel is the piece of the computer casing that surrounds and protects the LCD screen. To remove the bezel, remove the screws around the screen. Bezel removal method may vary by model. Once the screws come out, the bezel should pop off. The inverter will be under the screen. Attach the positive probe (+) of a multimeter to the pin 1 on the inverter. The inverter has two connections, one on each end. With the laptop screen facing you, look at the left side of the inverter. Pin 1 is the top metal flange pointing to the right. Secure the negative probe (-) of the multimeter to any bare screw. There should be a screw securing the inverter to the laptop that will be perfect for the negative ground connection. Turn the laptop on to test the inverter. Turn the multimeter on and check the multimeter reading. If the display records voltage going to the inverter, such as 19 V DC, the inverter power supply is working. Turn the laptop off. Unplug the LCD inverter connection on the right side of the inverter. This disconnects the backlight from the inverter. Plug a working backlight to the connection on the right side of the inverter. Turn on the laptop. If the screen lights up, the backlight lamp is bad but the inverter works. If the screen remains dark, the inverter is bad

My brightness control does not work just turned on and can not hardly see anything it is up and running what now

Have you tested it with an external monitor?

I would say you either have a damaged inverter board or screen baclight lamp. Usually the inverter board fails in one of the following ways:

1. When you turn on the laptop, the screen lights up for a short period of time and then goes dark. You still can see an image but it is very dark, almost invisible and definitely not usable. When you restart the laptop, the screen lights up and then goes dark again. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
2. Your laptop turns on but the screen remains dark all the time. You still can see a very dim image outline. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
3. The laptop screen works fine for hours or even days, but sometimes it goes very dark as it mentioned above. When you restart the laptop, the screen works fine again.

Inverter failure symptoms are very similar to backlight lamp failure symptoms and in most cases you cannot tell which one is causing the problem until you replace either the inverter board or the backlight lamp. From my personal experience, inverter boards fail more often than backlight lamps. If you have to guess, replace the inverter first.

My power save came on, which turned my laoptop screen off, i moved the mouse, the system started up again but the screen remains black/very dark . the only way i can see my computer screen is if i connect...

It sounds like a driver recovery issue, you may have to do a hard reboot. Hold the power button in for atleast 10 seconds or until your laptop shuts down completely, wait 30 seconds then turn it back on. If this fixes the problem you need to upgrade your video driver and/or your Operating System.

Gateway mt6728 doesn't switch on and the red led

Sounds like it needs a new power source or motherboard. Since it is immediately turning off after the red lights then it's probably a hardware problem since there is no time for the software to do anything.
