Question about Sub-Zero 650 / O Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Sub zero 650-display

The display is flashing "service" and 05 as freezer temp and EC as fridge temp. Can it be reset? Or does it really need a service call?- I have a 650 S and it is flashing "service" and the fridge temp is about 6 degrees higher than it should be. I've taken out off the top cover and cleaned dust out of the system but, other than that, not sure what to do.....reset or does it need a service call?

If you cleaned out the condensor unit, your problem is probably a bad evaporator. Schedule a service call. If the condensor was really dirty then you may have just compacted the dust into the condensor in which case a shot of CO2 would be a good idea.

My sub zero service light and EC 24 are flashing, fridge is getting warmer...suggestions?

The ec 24 alarm is from a sensor that is located behind the freezer wall and connects to the control board in the ref. When the temp gets to a certain point the sensor will trip giving the alarm. If the temperature in the freezer is gone up but is around the 20 -30 degree F range, I would remove the grate that covers the compressor and check to see if the fan is running and if the coils are dirty. Either one of those can cause temps to go up. If the fan is running and the coils are clean, Call a service company because you possibly have a sealed system issue

The control panel flashes "EC" where the fridge temp is displayed. The word "service" is also flashing.

"EC 50" means excessive refrigerator compressor run time. What is the serial number? Is the condenser fan running? Can you feel airflow from the left side up top? Is the strip between the fridge and freezer hot to the touch?

Look on your sub zero for more model numbers. I have found some information indicating that the refrigerator thermostat may be the problem but need those numbers to confirm. Thanks, Sea Breeze
