Question about Washing Machines
The cold water comes into the washer at a trickle. The hot water comes in a full stream. The valves/faucets are open all the way. What can be the problem??
Welcome to Fixya,
You said, The cold water comes into the washer at a trickle. The hot water comes in a full stream. The valves/faucets are open all the way. What can be the problem??
The fact that the water is trickling in, means the screen that filters the incoming water is cloged.
turn of the cold water valve and unscrew the cold water hose to the washer. In either side of that hose there may be a small screen to remove and clean.
And at the point that the hose screws on to the washer there is almost always a screen to be cleaned.
There we go!
Screen cleaned and puzzle solved!

The screen at the cold water inlet is clogged. Cut off the cold water line and unscrew the line to the washer at the washer. Use a flathead screwdriver and pry out the metal screen that is visible Wash it out in a sink and re-install it. Re-attach the water line, turn it on and your'e good to go. If not you will need a new water inlet valve. These are the only things that can cause your problem unless there is a problem with your cold water supply pressure. Good Luck!!!!!

If you turn off the water supply and switch the hot and cold hoses see if the problem the cold cycle is only trickling hot water. If the problem switches order a water inlet valve which is about $20.00. To replace the valve turn off the water and unplug the unit. Pull the unit out and remove the back panel. Disconnect the hoses from the valve and unplug the connecter. Replace the valve and plug in the connector reconnection all the hoses. Test the unit before closing it up.
