Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
I bought a hard drive for my D600 Dell laptop, no directions on how to install it now. Help would be appreciated
First off you do know that if you swap out the hd with a new one you will need to reinstall windows.
If you flip the notebook over there should be some panels you can remove. check there first.
Some notebooks store the hd drive on the side and it slides out after removing a couple of screws.
Once you find what you think it the original drive it will look different as it is attached with rails that you need to remove and transfer to then new hd.
Note: if the drive you take out is ide then in some cases there will be an adapter on the end where the contact is made to the motherboard you will have to pull this off and transfer it to the new hd. Also there are 2 specific kinds of hd's one of them i mentioned which is "ide" and the other "Sata". ide has pins and sata has 2 seperate flat connectors. Sata equiped notebooks are newer and do not a chance of having the formentioned adapter. If you bought a sata drive and your notebook has an ide you will need to retutrn it to the sotre for an ide.
Let me know how things work out so i can help you more.

There is a spot on the bottom right side of the laptop that resembles a battery slot, there is a screw in it, remove it. then gently remove the hard drive. remove the screws on the old hard drive (carefully!) and the case around it (if there is a case) keep the old drive next to the new one so u can see how to put the case around it, there is probably an adapter that goes on the pins, carefully remove that from the old hard drive and install on the new one. then install the new hard drive and replace the cover, tighten the screw (dont over tighten). Thats it, install your OS & drivers.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Visit support.dell.com, click on drivers and downloads, and then click on the service tag option.... enter the service tag from the bottom side of the laptop... it will then display the list of drivers for that laptop.
Download and install the audio drivers and any other ones that you need.... let me know if that solves it for you. Make sure they are for your laptop model and operating system.
