Scanning slides on scanjet 4370

Hi, my scanner scans pictures from magazines etc. perfectly, however when I try to scan a slide, they turn out dark and I cannot make out the image at all. Am I doing something wrong?

My slides were turning out dark and useless, that is until the bulb in the lid blew. BTW, using xSane for Linux Mint.

I am trying to scan slides with Epson Perfection V500 Photo...I placed the slides in properly and press the scan button on the scanner. It scans the row of slides as they appear on the scanner bed. But...

You have to have the plastic slide holder (positioner) placed perfectly. Look at the "A" and "C" tabs on the plastic holder. If they don't position your slides over the center of the glass, you are using the wrong tab! Slides have to be back-lit, which is what the top cover does. It doesn't light up the sides of the scanner glass, only the middle.

HP Scanner 3570C-can not scan my slides

According to the manual, you should always scan from the HP scanning software to scan slides using Scanjet transparent material adapter. There is no button that you can set for default slide scanning properties. This is shown on page 8 of the manual for the 3500 series scanners. The manual is available here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/72847/Hp-Scanjet-2300c-Series.html?page=13#manual .

Since the scanner works with pictures, make sure that the TMA adapter is plugged into the back of the scanner. Next open the software, HP Photo & Imaging Director. In most versions of Windows, press Start and look for the HP programs heading. Expand this to find the executable file. Alternatively, find the icon on the desktop or find the software in the file explorer (Program Files/HP/ on 32-bit versions, Program Files (x86)/HP) and then the appropriate sub-folder. Now try to scan the slides when they are loading in the adapter.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with your OS if you are still having problems. Some newer OS versions may have installed generic drivers for the ScanJet 3570C. The generic driver might not communicate with the TMA properly.)

First time i have scanned slides. not sure how to load them. do you slip them in from top, then cover with the vertical slide? i have put in a slide but can't read it--it comes out black when i try to scan...

double click the HP solution center open the scanner lid remove the TMA cover (transparent material adapter) by pulling the cover up place the slides onto the slide holder insert the slides w the top of the slides pointing up and the front of the slide facing you close the lid press the scan film in the HP dialog box select picture select scan positive, and select TMA click scan
goodluck

Scans slides too dark.

maybe the slides are too dark, in other words, the pictures you took didn't have enough exposure therefore you it shows up dark.. You could always use photoshop or someother photo manipulation software to lighten the scan, same thing happens with my hp scanner with slide adapter, if it slides just show up dark, lightening it with software will help, unless it is unsaturated/shadows too dark, etc..

Hope this helps.

Won't scan pictures/documents, etc.

This is a strange one- and the following may not help;
- Open the Control Panel, then Scanners and Cameras - Delete the listing (if present) for the HP
Leave the scanner 'on' and reboot the PC.
If the weather is right, Windows may (should) find a 'new device' and reinstall the driver for the scanner. If that fails to cure the problem, either reinstall the HP scanner software or download updated software from the HP website (good luck with that - it's a nightmare getting what you need).
