Question about Terminator Aquastar 125FX Tankless Water Heater: FX Hood Horizontal Vent

1 Answer

HI, I have a Bosch tankless water heater with electronic ignition and no pilot light. The heater will work great for a week or so then it will cut off for no reason and flash P2 in the readout. If I restart the heater a few times it will reset and work for a few more days and them we do the same thing all over again. "P2" is suppose to mean the incoming water is too cold, but that hard to believe in the middle of summer. Any ideas? Thanks

P2 is a programing flash on the board. It has nothing to do with temps. If this is happening all on its own, then you have a control board problem. If this is happening when your trying to reset the heater, then the error code is different.

Actually E2 means the water is too cold. P2 is a computer program setting.

Check the connection of the temp sensor itself, maybe its broke on the inside if a new temp sensor didnt fix the problem.

In any gas heating appliance there will be a thermocouple that sense if the pilot flame is lit (lighted?).
You bypass this with the regulator by holding the button temporarily and that allows you to light the main burner. If the thermocouple is bad (not uncommon- they sit in a hot seat all the time), it will disable the gas supply.
The thermocouple should normally measure nearly zero Ohms on a multimeter; if it doesn't, it's bad.
If the thermocouple checks out OK, then the regulator has failed.

Bosch Tankless HW Heater...Hot water flow becomes cold then hot again during shower. Have had only Bosch plumber in area out numberous times but never fixes the problem.

You are using a low flow shower head. you probably own the 250/2400 they have activation rate of .8gpm. If your shower head is low like this, your unit will deactivate. Higher flow shower head is a fix, or pull the aerator out of the shower head you have now might help.

Hi, We have one of your tankless hot water heaters. At about this time of the year in southern CA it is difficult to take a shower. We run either really hot or really cold. Is this due to the water tanks...

Your water in southern california is very hot during the summer months. I would try pulling the aerators out of the sinks and shower heads and also pull the inlet screen out of the watervalve connection on the heater itself

Tankless water heater

What error code do you get? I listed the Bosh telephone number below. They should be able to walk through it with you and diagnose it. Be prepared for long hold times though. I also listed the web site. There you can download the manuals and such. Good luck.

Gradual decrease in water temperature

Rebuild the watervalve or replace it. 6 year old unit means its probably one of the 125 series. Probably a polymer gray water valve. Pay attention to the venturi, most likely its very dirty. You can get instructions off the www.boschhotwater.com websight to rebuild this.

BOSCH AQ125FX TANKLESS WATER HEATER

these heaters work when a pressure drop is sensed in the water supply line. The pressure sensor is likely blocked with sediment from the city supply. You may want to call for service.
