Question about Printers & Copiers

5 Answers

Re: PIXMAMP600 I am having trouble in some instances where I get a message on the computer that my printer is off-line. I am able to print other things without a problem. When I try to print a Quicken report it tells me that my printer is off-line. What is the problem?

It didn;'t work by following your exact instructions. There was no Quicken icon in the printer prt of the control panel. There is no options in the Quicken file. However I found the problem in the printer set up in the Quicken file.

    Thanks for your help,

You will have to setup the default printer through the Quicken software. Click on file > printer setup > reports and graphs > (Choose your default printer from the menu) > OK.

You should be able to print from Quicken now. Please post back and let me know how it goes..

Cheers!

Go to Printers and Faxes under the control Panel.
Make sure that your printer is set as a default printer. If not than make a right click on the printer and select "Set as Default Printer"

Delete any other Extra printers showing up there.

Good Morning Hanixt,

Quicken allows you to set up different printers and parameters for both reports/graphs and printing checks. This setup is a quicken function and does not necessarily use your "Default" printer.

1) Open quicken.
2) On the top left corner of the screen, choose the menu item "file".
3) From the dropdown menu, choose "printer setup".
4) Then choose "For reports and graphs".
5) Finally, use the dropdown menu to select your default printer, and choose "ok".

Go to your printers and faxes and check if you have multiple printer entries, if there are, Quicken is pointing to a copy. delete those copies.

I am not too familiar with Quicken as I use QuickBooks, but if I am right Quicken uses a printer service like Microsoft Word and QuickBooks does.
Look in the Printer Folder in Control Panel and look to see if a Quicken printer icon is displayed, if there is one, right click the icon and check the properties to make sure your printer and not Quicken is the default printer. I have actually deleted the Word, Quickbooks and Acrobat Reader printers in the past with no problems.
You could also check the Options in File. Open Quicken and in the top left corner click File, check to see if there is an Options tab or any thing regarding the printer to make sure your printer is the default printer and not Quicken.

If you edit the photos and save them at a lower resolution, then put the lower resolution photos into the document, that's the quick fix.
A program such as photoshop or corel photopaint are able to do this quite easily. In corel for instance you simply resave the photo as a jpeg, and it'll ask the resolution/quality etc. and you can reduce the resolution usually quite a bit before you lose any quality in the printout.

The other solution is to upgrade the printer's memory.

Inkjet printers usually will not have this issue because they don't need to form the complete page in memory before printing like a laser printer does. An injet's image is formed line by line in the print driver and then streamed to the printer, so the printer's ram doesn't have to take the whole page at once.

C3100 Printing Fails from XP

Disable firewall to test if it is actually blocking. Windows Firewall should not normally be configured to block printing.

Make a new printer instance, but use a standard TCP/IP port

If that fails, install the driver using the canon setup.exe installer for you unit.

Go to control panel - printers. Right click your printer icon - select delete printer. Reinstall the software and drivers via CD supplied. May have to restart your computer when complete. Go back to control panel - select printers - select add a printer and follow the instructions. When finished print a test page.
