You have to go into your account setting and deactivate, i honestly forgot the exact tab under account but it will be at the bottom and it will be in blue says "Deactivate Account" i have done it several times you will just have to verify your password and then it will send you conformation email. If you decide you want to go back on facebook at any time all you have to do is sign in again and it will reactivate
When i log on in fb it asks security code... i ordered this code on my mobile phone and when it finally came (six times same code) i tried to enter it on security box - then fb told that the security code is incorrect or expired. Please try having the code sent you again. When i want that it sent me this code again, then fb told that im triyng too often. Please try again later.

the way you described your problem it seems that in past also you have tried to register with facebook using the same mail id. Now you have only one option try to login on the facebook using the same mail id and password if you use unique password everywhere or else you will have to create a new mail id and register.
Go to facebook and sign up for it. Wait for an email and confirm it. Then go find friends you know on facebook. I have it (jwwebster). It is nice because instead of email you can pull up a bookmark facebook friend and send them an IM without all the bs you get using ym. It's nice.
Head to the Facebook Web site to reactivate your account.
Log in to Facebook as if you'd never left. Use your original email address and password.
Check your registered email account for a confirmation email from Facebook with directions on how to reactivate your account.
Follow the link in the email. You will be taken to your home page,
which will appear exactly how you left it. All your settings and events
are intact upon reactivation. All you have to do is start exploring again.
