Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

1 Answer

Keyboard and overheating

When I am typing an email or MSN my sentence will sometimes jump up to the line above and start typing amongst the previous sentence. It is very frustrating and i have no idea why it is happening. My laptop is on a solid surface and i do not lean on any part of the laptop. I have had my laptop re-formatted but after a while the problem starts again.

The other problem is similar to what has been noted before. The laptop will get very hot and after an hour will switch off. I am able to switch the laptop straight back on but it is very hot. I have had the laptop cleaned and all dust removed and i was told that there was very little dust in there. Its beginning to drive me mad. Is it best for me to just buy another laptop?

Your problem is an issue with the system board. Just update your BIOS and the typing and overheating issue should be resolved. Go to the acer support site and select your model. check if you can see a BIOS update available and update your laptop.
Hope this helps.

Keep the palms of your hands away from the "touchpad" -- you're accidentally moving the mouse-pointer as your fingers press on the keys.

I recently acquired this problem after having my computer serviced. I have been using it for over a year with no difficulty. I read somewhere that this is a microsoft problem, one of their service packages. The question is, which one?

Keyboard Cursor Jumping

I have been having the same problem for some time now with my Acer laptop and windows vista.
What worked for me was changing a Mouse setting in the Control Panel.
Go to Control Panel -> Mouse. Then go to the "Tapping" tab and make sure that the "Tap off when typing" box is Checked

Cursor problem

this is a common keyboard driver problem, go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager> and look down the list for keyboard, click the'+' sign, right click on the keyboard type line and select uninstall. Restart the notebook and it will automatically reinstall itself and the driver. If you still have the same problem, you will need to go to the manufacturer web site and download the latest keyboard driver if any, install it and repeat the above.
