Question about Acer Aspire 5101WLMi Notebook

Open Question

Acer Aspire 5101 battery light never goes off, even when the system is turned off. How is this physically possible? Is something plugged in to a usb port still drawing power or is it a software thing? Is it something in the bios that keeps the battery on? We've just had it back from being repaired cuz it was constantly overheating and they cleaned and repaired it but never mentioned the battery light so is it something wrong with our power adapter tho it cdn't be cuz it stays on when the mains is unplugged. Help this is driving me crazy and it can't be good for the battery.

Acer aspire 5101 battery only lasting 3 minutes on full charge

The battery has possibly been on charge permanently as you laptop has been in use. This damages the battery and causes it to lose power.
Replace the battery.
Ebay have a good range and price.

I have Problems with Acer Aspire One AOA110-1113 Blue Intel Atom N270 8.9' 512MB Memory 8GB. it shows no signal on the screen. no light no cursor no nothing. only sound. and no physical damage. it just...

Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery The AA1 has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, making it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system doesn't boot anymore. It's only meant for emergencies and may void your warranty, so use at your own risk.

Follow every step carefully!

First format an USB stick with FAT.

Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

If for some reason you made a mistake during the procedure and it doesn't reboot by itself wait 5 minutes before turning it off, just to be safe that it isn't still flashing the BIOS.

Download WIN98BOOT.ZIP and HPUSBFORMATTER from the internet normal bootable like a dikette won't work with a usb stick

The battery is clipped at the bottom of the laptop, it sounds like the PSU circuit in your laptop has failed and you might want to consider taking it to a computer shop, but get quotes first as some shops still act like cowboys.

Acer 5101 AWLMI orbicam problem!

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.

If that does not work then do this:

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
