If you live in an area with hard water it may just be that the calcium accumulation is preventing the water from flowing through the unit. Have you tried running a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water through the unit? I received a completely clogged unit and then ran the same mix of vinegar and water through the unit, allowing the water to cool each time, about 6 times before completely unclogging it. Make sure to use a fresh filter each time to catch any calcium that may dislodge from the various tubes in the unit.

If cleaning the unit in this way doesn't resolve the problem, without knowing with unit you have, then it sounds like an internal thermostat is getting too hot, shutting down the internal water heater. If that's the case then B&D is using a new design for their internal thermostats, one which resets itself when it cools off, and that thermostat may be bad and kicking off at too low a water temperature in which case your only solution is to return it for exchange or replace the water heater unit.

If the display works and the platter heats up when it is turned on to brew, this string might address the problem.

How do you adjust the water level

After the first brew the machine should brew excactly the amount of water added to the water reservoir. Since the reservoir always keep half full then you should add the maximum amount you need in two steps.

It only makes 1/2 pot when I pour the water in after sitting over night some times it takes 2 pot of water or more to make a full pot

I recommend slowly pouring in about a half a pot of cold water without coffee in the filter basket 5 or so minutes before you brew in the morning. There are 2 good reasons to do this-
1. Overnight you are having some evaporation due to the fact that your Bunn brewer has a reservoir that keeps a couple of pots worth of water at brewing temperature... a better temp than most "home" model brewers. This will top off the reservoir and you will not "short pot" except for the amount that the grounds themselves hold back.
2. Also overnight, due to the fact that the water is kept hot, the oxygen can dissipate from the water in the tank. Topping off with fresh water will mean a fresher first pot.
The Bunn brewers have a low wattage/keep warm heater so the actual heating element isn't doing all of the work over those long periods... it only kicks on when the temperature in the reservoir drops considerably (like after brewing). Be sure to let the brewer heat back up before brewing (you will hear it stop heating)
Hope this helps.

I have a bunn coffee maker that when it brews the first pot is hot after that the next one is not. It is the coffee maker that has two warmers on top. i didnt know if would be the heating element or...

While this brewer does have a reservoir that keeps a couple of pots worth of water hot for brewing you can get a cooler second pot if you brew directly after. You should hear the brewer heating up after brewing. Try waiting until it is back to temperature before re-brewing. If that heating takes more than a few (3-4) minutes then you probably have a problem with the heating element and the water is only being heated by the "keep warm" heater.

The grounds keep draining into the coffee carafe. I have changed brand of filters but didn't help.

I had a similiar problem and found that the water is too fast for the "flow" meaning it will fill the basket too fast and just over flows, try brewing a full pot BUT when it is half full pull out the water reseviour and then check out the basket, you will see it near the top. You can wait 5-10 minutes and just pop the reseviour back in.. it will brew fine. Any tips would be great. I think my was a referb and the hoses were replaced with larger hoses making the flow greater.

This problem seems to happen quite often. If the symptoms are similar to those posted in this string try the solution posted at the bottom. It seems to fix it most of the time.

My Black and Decker Spacemaker coffee Maker will not turn on. Pluged-in and will not turn on. Recently replaced the recalled coffee filter brew basket.

We had this same problem and it turned out that the inside if display and circuit board caught on fire and melted inside. File a report with the USCPSC and call Black and Decker. They are sending us a new model free of charge but they are also telling me to send them the coffee pot free of charge wtih postage paid. I refuse to do this for 30 days because the Consumer Product safety commission wants me to keep it for 30 days to investigate
