IPOD Shuffle deletes songs if I delete them from the music library in Itunes
I have loaded songs on to my IPOD Shuffle (2nd Generation) and then deleted them from the music library. When I try to add more songs, Itunes automatically synchronizes the new songs to the Shuffle and deletes the songs not in the music library.

You have to keep all the songs that you want on your iPod on your computer, otherwise you will get this problem. So if you want song "a" on your iPod it must also be in your iTunes library at all times unless you don't want it on your iPod anymore

Generally speaking, you'll clean up your iPod with iTunes to erase unwanted songs and add new songs. You have two ways to delete music from iPod with iTunes, and they can be helpful when you want to get rid of the unwanted songs. iTunes provides automatic and manual methods to help you manage the songs in your device. When you are using the automatic way to manage iPod music, every time you connect iPod to computer with USB cable, your iPod will sync with iTunes Music library. If you have your iTunes Music library organized, you can delete unwanted music from iPod with this easy method. If you want to manually edit your iPod music, you can check Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically in iTunes by clicking Edit > Preferences > Devices. Then you can manually sync the songs and playlists to your iPod with iTunes. How to Delete Music from iPod
Music can only be added through iTunes. Open iTunes and click on the device icon. Drag music that is loaded in iTunes music library onto the device. If you haven't loaded music into iTunes, you have to do that first.
You can uncheck the songs on iTunes library first, and then sync iPod with iTunes, the songs will be deleted from your iPod. Or you may try this iTunes alternative, it's easy to delete your iPod songs, videos and photos. http://www.reviewstown.com/itunes-alternative.html

Get your iPod. Connect it to your computer. Start iTunes program. In the source list, select your iPod. Now click on iPod options.(On the bottom right corner of iTunes) and select Manually manage songs and playlists option. Click ok and done! So here' s how you remove songs form your iPod manually.
Connect your iPod to your computer.
Go to the source list and click on the icon which looks like an iPod.
Choose the songs you want to delete and press delete! How simple is that?!
How to remove songs from your iPod automatically. (When you iPod is set to default settings)
To remove songs from your iPod automatically, just delete the songs you want to from your iTunes library.
When the default setting is on, songs that are deleted from your iTunes Library will also be deleted from the iPod.
I am not sure about the 1st generation but the 2nd generation definitely charges via the USB connection. If you don't hear the music its because there are no songs on your device. When you initially add songs, they go to the Library in iTunes, not the Shuffle. Just drag and drop your songs from the "Library" to your "Device" in iTunes and then you'll notice them get sync'd with the Shuffle.
You can either do a restore: Connect to your computer and open itunes. When you first open itunes you should be in "Devices" Make sure you're in the "Summary" tab and you will have a button that says "Restore" Click that and it will do the rest.
Or Sync with an itunes library that has no files on it, this will also remove the files from your ipod.
