I need nelp dynex secuirty sync wireless enhanced g router
i need to do this :
Secure your wireless router Secure your wireless router by enabling WPA encryption. Encryption scrambles your data so that Intruders can't access it. Visit the router manufacturer's website or refer to the router's documentation to learn how to enable and configure WPA encryption for your devices—and make sure you choose a password (key) that is difficult for others to guess.
Open your router's configuration page to enable WPA encryption now.
Protect other PCs Protect the other PCs on your network with your McAfee software. To do so, go to a PC you want to protect, log in, and then download and install your McAfee software.

Re: need help dynex security sync wireless
According to the manual that i have, the model if the router that you have, DX-E401, is just a broadband router and doesn't have wireless capability. if that would be the correct model of your device, there's no way that you can enable the wireless encryption since it doesn't have wireless capability. but if you are really using a wireless dynex router, follow the steps below on how to access the router's page and enable the security.
access the router's setup page by typing http://192.168.0.1 on the address bar of your web browser (i.e. internet explorer, firefox etc). by default the username is admin, then leave the password blank.
you will be prompted with the router's page, now go to the wireless settings and look for the encryption field and enbale wpa from there.
if you are not sure whether your router has wireless capability or if you are using another wireless router just give me the exact model and brand then ask me

Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer. Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL http://192.168.1.1 The default login = admin The default PW = admin You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place) Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption (security). Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
Page 9 Descripts setting the wireless secuirty. Make sure you do WPA2 with PSK this is the most secure. Page 17 Administration > Management describes changing the the router management password. Also a very good idea. Change it to HTTPS only and disable remote management (Via wireless) This will ensure the management configuration is encryted and only accessable via a local lan connection. Comment if you have additional questions and please rate the solution if you found it helpful. Thanks, Justin
Please reset the Router to restore it to factory settings. Please locate a small pin point whole, reset button near the Ethernet ports of the Router and press it for 10 seconds. Once you reset the Router, please login to the Router and change the Router login password under Administration tab.
Please follow the steps mentioned below to secure the Wireless Network.
Please open the Web browser, type 192.168.2.1 and press
Please enter the User Name "admin" and leave the
Please click on Wireless section and click Security.
Now, you can pickup any of the Wireless Security like
WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc.
Select the Wireless Security encryption type and save
You should have one plug that is marked WAN - this connects to your modem with a standard Ethernet cable. If you cannot read the labels, it will be the plug, slightly removed from the other four plugs.
You need to connect the power adapter to a power strip to avoid unnecessary power entering your network and to protect the router.
You should be able to start the router without a PC attached. Just look for Dynex being broadcast wirelessly. Your network is not secure wirelessly until you add a password to the network.
See if you can get to fixya.com from your laptop. If so, things are going pretty well. You now want to add security to the wireless network.
first you need to find the default gateway of the router,u need to do this settings in the computer which is wired to the router, securing the network over a wireless connections is not suggested..
click on start, run, and type in cmd,hit enter,a black box should appear in that box type in ipconfig and hit enter, once you hit enter it will give u a lot of results check the default gateway(default gateway should look like this 192.168.2.1)now open an internet explorer page and remove the website name that present in the addess box,now without http or www type in the numbers,it will tell you to put in the user name and password, username is blank and password is admin (this is generic to all the microsoft routers provided you have not changed it earlier,if u ave changed it then put in the user name and password that you have setup, now it should open a microsoft router page,in that page you will see an option which says wireless click on wireless and then under wirless you will have the wireless security, now you need to enable the security adn choose the type of secuirty type and save the settings once you do that you wireless connection should be setup with a security code...
PS:when you make your wireless network secured make sure that the computer is connected wired to the rotuer..
Unfortunately, the DX-E402 is not a wireless router, so it can not transmit its signal without a physical cable connecting the router to your computer. If you want a wireless router that can also connect to your ISP, check out the Dynex Enhanced Wireless G Router:
Double check if there is any wireless security enabled in your router. Verify if the type of security enabled in your router is already supported by your wireless adapter. If the wireless security enabled in your router is not supported by your adapter, change the security to something that will work with your adapter.
Try connecting your computer with dynex Wireless G USB to different wireless network for further isolation.
