It started on just the "administrator" part of my lap top, but I could log off and log onto "guest" and it would the sound would work just fine. Now, it works for neither, and when I get into my control pannel to see what the problem is, it says that there is no sound and all. So, now the sound on my laptop has completly stopped working.

When setting up xr8600 is it best to start mains and monitors master at 0DB?

1. Turn the main and monitor volumes all the way down (off). Plug a cd player into channel 9/10 and play a track of music of your liking. With the main/monitor volumes still off, adjust the gain on 9/10 until the clip light turns on, then back it down until the clip light just turns off. Put the channel volume at 12 o' clock.
2. With the music still playing, turn up the mains to the desired listening level first, and then adjust the graphic eq until the music sounds good in the room. Remember or mark the position of the volume control. Do not use the channel eq on 9/10 for music that has been mastered properly, leave the eq flat. Once this step is completed then you have now set the main eq.
3. Repeat the same for monitors. Turn off the main volume and then bring up the monitor main volume to the desired level first, then set eq. Now your monitor eq is set properly. Remember or mark the position of the monitor volume.
4. Set up microphone - plug a mic into channel 1 with volume all the way down. Speak or sing into the microphone and adjust the GAIN until you see the clip light, then back down a litttle on the gain. Put the monitor and main volumes back up to the mark from step 2. Now adjust the volume and monitor send on the mic channel to the desired loudness first before adjusting the mic channel eq. Use subtractive eq method to minimize distortion and feedback. ...i.e. if the mic is bassy then turn down the lows, do not ADD highs. If the mic needs bass, turn down the highs.

Troubleshooting Laptop Sound Problems - No Audio Output

Symptom:

Can't hear any sound out of my laptop.

Diagnosis & Solution:

If you can't get any sound out of your laptop, the most likely cause is the volume being turned down or muted. Newer laptops monitor the external sound control so when the volume is turned up or down manually, the volume control in the operating system tracks right along with it. But with some laptops, especially those with external dial volume controls rather than toggles, the volume dials are independent of the software volume control and can't be monitored in software. In this case, if the volume dial is turned down on the outside of the laptop, the sound is turned off and nothing can be done in the operating system to change that. The only way to get the sound back is to turn up the external volume dial control.

If you have checked the external volume control on the laptop and the standard laptop volume slider in the operating system (the little speaker icon in Windows system tray) & you still can't get any sound out of the laptop, then the next step would be to check for any other software volume controls. Depending on the software installed and what you are trying to do, there may still be multiple volume controls and mixer panels scattered about the operating system. If the wrong channel is muted or turned down all the way in one of these independent controls, the laptop will not produce sound.

Most of the time, the first sign most laptop users get that their audio isn't working is the absence of operating system sounds, like the Windows rush on start up, or chimes with e-mail activity. Of course, these sounds can be turned off by design as well, through the Sounds option in Windows Control Panel. So, before looking at hardware problems, make sure these sounds are not turned off.

If you try to play an audio CD and the media player shows that the song is progressing but you can't get any sound out of the laptop speakers, odds are that the volume is turned down or muted. But it could also be due to an onboard sound hardware failure. If you are confident the volume is turned on in all possible locations and you've checked Windows Device Manager for a report of a hardware failure, try listening through headphones. If the headphones work, the wiring to the internal speakers has broken or come loose. Wiring failure is only likely if the speakers are in the lid and therefore wired through the hinges.

If you don't get any sound out of the headphones & you haven't missed a "mute" being checked off somewhere in software controls, then it really is a hardware failure. If the problem is with all sounds, including Windows chimes, internet radio, etc, then the problem is that the integrated sound processor has failed. In this case, unless the sound system is on a daughter card, it means the fix would require replacing the motherboard. But if the only thing you can't do is play audio CD's, then the problem is that the output from the DVD/CD player is muted or not getting to the amplification stage.

In modern laptops the DVD/CD players feature Digital Audio Extraction (DAE) which means that music CDs can be read digitally & the data passed to the built-in sound card or an external sound card replacement for processing, amplification then output. If there's a problem with the DVD/CD connector or if the wiring has been damaged, the music CD may get spun around without the sound making it to the sound card. The DAE output chip rarely fails on the CD/DVD drive, but the connector can fail. Make sure that digital playback is enabled in the properties tab of the drive in Device Manager.

You can replace your built-in laptop sound card with a PC card, with a USB sound card or USB speakers. These replacements make good workarounds if the integrated audio system fails. They also bring with them a whole new level of software with more volume controls, which are integrated with the existing operating system software. When shopping for replacement sound cards, keep in mind that USB solutions are much cheaper than PC cards. Also, when purchasing USB speakers to replace the laptop's sound system, don't buy speakers advertised as "USB powered". The "USB powered" speakers only draw their power from the USB port, they still need to be plugged into a regular audio jack to output any sound.

How do you turn volume up and down on a motorola WX295 phone

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you are trying to listen to your music, what do you need to do to turn your volume up or down is just to follow this steps.

1.Find "Music player" on your menu settings
2. Press "Play" to play the music
3. While music is playing all you need to do is to press the Up or Down arrow on the navigation key to turn the volume up or down.

You can also changed the volume of your cellphones by changing your "Profile" settings.
You can also try to look for "My settings" on your main menu and under "my settings" choose "more settings" to adjust the volume of your cellphones.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for using Fixya,

There speakers r not putting out any music via the internet or my documents...but gives warning sounds

Check the volume control properties t oensure the speakers aren't muted, if they are not muted then the mainboard's volume control overide program has them turned down! To turn them up from there sumply locate your function key and they key that corrosponds with the volume up or volume down features. (usually the up or down arrows, but not always) they will be marked with a speaker icons and some variation of up or down markings.

As far as the warning sounds, that in its self is a seperate speaker unit that is not controlled the same way your actual speakers are, hence you can still hear the audio warning sounds. Good luck, thanks for using FixYa

My speaker on my asus eee 1000he is not working corectly. I'm unable to here people speak they sound as if the volume is turned way down and can not here most music clearly. Even with headset it does not...

the sound card in n that netbook is a very weak one, alot of people complain, could be that
could also be that you have the wave volume turned down...
go to start
control panel
sound and audio devices
right under the volume slider click the advanced tab
make sure all tabs there are maxxed out
if that doesnt work
turn dolby on, suposedl;y that helps...
if that doesnt work, turn the volume up all the way, play a soft song, like saxaphone music, adn get the speaker close to your ear, if you can barely hear the music, and get about the same amount of static or white noise, you have a shorted circuit with the internal sound system...

if you have the sound driver for your laptop, try to reinstall it.

Also, check if you have the volume controller icon appearing in the system tray (desktop-bottom right) and check if the sound and speaker control are not in mute.

The sound of my aspire 3610 is not working

The first thing to check is of course that your volume is not all the way down. Check this in the control panel. If this does not work, or if you cannot adjust the volume, your drivers may not be installed. Try to install ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_3610/driver/Realtek%20Audio.zip and see if that works. If neither of those work, you may not have the appropriate codecs installed. Usually this would affect video more than audio, but just to be safe, try installing the Community Combined Codec Pack (CCCP) from http://www.cccp-project.net/ and install that.
