Start playing a Wii game. In order to reset the Wii and go back to the main Wii menu, you have to be playing a video game. Click on the game you want to play and allow it to boot up. Once you are done playing the game, you can reset your Wii.
Press the "Home" Button. Located on the Wii Remote, it is a button between the "+" and "-" button with a picture of a house on it. This will bring you to a menu that allows you to reset the video game that you are playing. You can only access this menu when you are playing a game.
Press the button on the actual Wii. You may have to reset your Wii from the button on the system if your Wii Remote is out of batteries. Simply go up to your Wii and find the button that is nearest to the top of the system. It will be the button that is lit up. Press the button and your Wii will reset.
Are you using the "play and charge kit" thingy? Because it breaks them after a while, it happened to me so my advice is to buy some new once or repair them and sell the play and charge kit,
if you havent been using the charge kit try using a different kind of batteries like duracel or enegizer
We have this same issue with this game, and at least one other. Sometimes it's a black screen and sometimes it hangs at the screen where you're supposed to push "a" to start. I've found that if I hard boot the system (pull the power cable from the back for a few seconds) a few times, it will finally work.
