DVD Burner Not Found

male sure the laptop has teh burn dvd capability cause it can be just a cd writer and dvd rom ..and in this case it is explainable why its giving the error ..
If you are sure you have a dvd writer ...than be sure you select it in the options of the burning software you use..
and 3rd ... if your writer is corrupted ..try to go to device manager ..(click right on compuer select properties..and device manager..) in there look for dvd writer...click right on it ..and select update driver...If the disk is not present click right on computer ..and select scan for hardware changes...If the writer is deactivated this will bring it back ..Than update its driver and be sure it's not in yellow cause this means the driver is not the correct one ..
If no action will correct this ..and still makes the same ..than I suggest to reinstall the operation system ..and this way you will eliminate the possibility that a bug corrupted it ...and in case it still not working you have to consider replacing it ..but not before trying a operation system reinstall ..cause there are viruses that attack the disk drive's driver ..and this is the only fix .

New dvd writer recognised as old

Hello.

Go to Control Panel.

Locate System.

Locate your Device Manager.

Under your DVD/CD Rom devices, locate the old DVD writer. Select it. Right click and hit Uninstall.

Now scan your computer for new hardware, and install the new DVD writer with the discs it comes with, if any.

DVD Writer not functioning properly in XP

Hi there.
While you are in XP go to the device manager, look down the list of devices for the DVD rom, click on the + icon next to the DVD rom, right click on the DVD and uninstall it, restart the PC and let windows re-detect the DVD and install it.
I also suggest that you clean the registry, download Ccleaner from here, install it and clean the system and registry.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

About my dvd writer

The issue can be either with the Hardware or the software.

Make sure that this issue happens wiht all the CDs or DVDs you are using or able to used eariler.

First, check if the DVD Drive is listed in My Computer or not.

If yes, try uninstalling the DVD Drive from the Device manager by following the steps :

Right Click on My Computer and select Properties in the list.

Now go to Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button.

Device Manager window opens in a seperate window.
Now click on the [+] mark next to DVD/CD Rom Drives to expand the tree.

Right click on the DVD Drive entry and select Uninstall.

Confirm if you get any message and close the Device Manager and restart the Notebook so that the DVD Drive Drivers will be reinstalled automatically.

Uninstalling DVD Drive Drivers in Vista :

Click on the Start Menu and type in Device Manager in the search field.

Click on the Device Manager from the results which will open the Device manager window.

Follow the same instructions to uinstall it.

If you find the yellow ! marks in the Device Manager, you may have to do some modifications in the Registry by following the instructions in the links below :

For XP :

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

For Vista :

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us

you may have either the Upper or Lower filter or both.

Delete both of them and restart the Notebook.

Finally, try removing and reseating the DVD Drive from the instructions available in the Manual in page number 135 of 310 :

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035657.pdf

If the issue repeats, issue can be with Hardware.

Dvd/cdr_rw is not detectable in windows vista ultimate

Try this. http://www.k0lee.com/dc3000/clearing_the_registry_filters.htm Might work or might not. Some programs tend to screw up the upfilter and downfilter settings.
