Hello

If the lens barrel is crooked it is normally a sign that the camera has been dropped or knocked.

If you are careful you may be able to straighten the barrel up by trying to push is back into place.

If you are unable to do this you will have to take it to a service centre and have the lens block replaced.

There is some problem with the sensor thats why you are getting this message .....have you tried by inserting new batteries .....if your problem still exists then you need to find any material obstructing the movement of the lens ...you can also gently tap on the sideways of the camera to solve your problem on temporary basis .....

I have a cybershot DSC W55. When the power button is switched on the lens extends and the "access" message shown on screen. Also amber light is flashing above screen. After a few seconds I get a message to power on and off again. I\'ve tried switching on and off a few times, removing battery pack and memory card, but nothing seems to be solving the problem.

Please remove the Battery from the Camera then reinsert it after two minutes. Make sure that the Battery is fully charged. if menu options are accessible on the Camera then reset it to the original factory settings. Problem is in the lens assembly. My friend at www. f16camera service.com.au has shown me where this camera can have problems with gears jamming in the stepping motor gearset & other times the lens drive assembly. Best taken to a specialist as the pieces are just so small.

When turning camera on, lens opens and closes , then it says turn the power off and on again

The problem is that the lens is jammed.
Here's what I did: I smacked the side of the camera on a tile floor a few times, until the lens started trying to open. Then I used a knife to pry up the lens a little. Believe it or not, it is now taking pictures. You can't imagine how excited I was to get it working.

If this sounds like a joke (it did to me), I got the idea from these forums:

http://www.camerahacker.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Digital%20Camera/Sony/dsc-w50_acess.turn_off_on_again.html

Good luck!
