You don't need a startup disk for a printer.. starup disks are needed for computer but not for printers..
what you may need is the disk for your printer which very likely may have the drivers for your printer..
and since we're not mind readers..you may want to post the model of your printer and brand and we'll help you finding the driver and programs that you need to make your printer work.. (if avaliable online)

Have a HP Fax Printer. just want the printer to work. don't have the disc with it. please help.

If you don't have a disc you may try this. Go to HP website and download the specific driver of your printer. It's free and they need some specific details like the series of you printer. after downloading you may able to use your printer.

Not printing from computer, but printer works when I'm just making a copy

goto:

start, control panel, select view classic settings(if you cannot see a printer icon), double click the printer icon, set your current printer as the default from the list. your printer must be plugged into the computer for this to work.

also, depending on the model number, you didn't say, you should download the driver and program package from the website for your model number, if you do not have the disc that came with it anymore. there are drivers you need for everything to function properly.

Printer shows ready, whenI send a print job to the printers it displays printing, but does not print. The unable to cancel or remove printing jobs.

Check if the printhead starts moving when powering on the printer. The problem might lie in the printhead electrical contact pints in which case clean it gently. Alternatively replace the print cartridge where at least black ink is present. If these are OK but it wont pull in the paper then the rollers might be jammed. If its a laser printer, check by changing the tober cartridge amd post the result as a comment.........sodeep

Can not connect printer to acer aspire one ZG5 Any advice would be great, Im trying to hook i up using a USB cable. Computer is not even recognizing that i have plugged in a usb cable

Well it all depends on what type of printer it is. Most printing companies don't give a disc with their printer. Mainly because they are supposed to install automatically when plugged in. If your computer asks for a disc, maybe it needs one to install the printer. try contacting the company who mad the printer. You never know if they forgot to put the disc in when they packed it. If that is the case, they probably will be more than happy to give you another disc.

Hope this helps!

I need to install my printer but I have no disc

Well, you don't want a disc. The drivers are almost always old by the time they're burned to disc! Go download the appropriate ones from the printer maker's website. If your printer is older than that, pick an appropriate tool or default printer type for your OS. It's usually quite the blessing if you got a PostScript 4 printer to use utilities anyhow.
