Try another wall outlet first. if it still doesn't turn on. then you going to need a meter in order for you determine if the power supply is at fault.
put the postive (red) lead to the positive side of the power supply output lead (+) and the negative to the negative. if your read 12V on the meter. the power supply is good.
if the power supply is good. then, take out the battery out of the laptop. push and hold the power button on the laptop for 20sec (resetting the laptop). replace the battery and the AC. if that don't work. then you have other power problem.

please email me (frcs68@hotmail.com) if any additional question you may have.

thank you

My Toshiba L455D-S5976 Laptop will not boot up? I cleaned the keyboard and now nothing please help! I wonder if the Cmos will stop it from booting up?

If the CMOS battery is dead that would be a issue. Reseat Memory Mods. I'm sure you removed ALL power when you cleaned the keyboard, Battery? AC? What did you clean with? Isopropyl Alcohol? Sound like something has shorted the Power/components.

The screen suddenly begun to blink up and down like when we blink our eyes (that's the best way i could describe it. Or it's like when someone has BUZZed you when you are using your YM.)

Sadly, this problem could be caused by several different things. It could be a defect with the display itself, an issue with the cable that connects the motherboard to the screen inside the laptop chassis, or there is something wrong with the display adapter of the laptop. In my experience, it is usually the cable, which is the cheapest of the three repairs, but it can still be well over $200 to get that fixed. You can use an external monitor with the laptop, but, I suspect the problem will only continue to get worse over time.

My daughter's toshiba L505 just suddenly turned off. She tried to turn it on but failed.

When you turn on your Toshiba laptop and nothing happens, you may feel a rising sense of panic. However, it is important to calmly troubleshoot the issue. Although it is possible that your laptop may need expensive repairs, it is also possible that the problem could have an easy fix. Use the following steps as a guide to troubleshoot your Toshiba laptop.

1.Make sure you have correctly attached the AC power adapter and cable. If your transformer has a light on it, check to see whether it is on.
2.Be certain that you are working off of a charged battery.
3.Press down the power button for 10 seconds or more. If the button glows, the computer is on. If not, try turning the computer off and then on again.
4.Plug in a lamp to make sure the electrical outlet to which your laptop is connected is live. Look at the power-indicator button at the front edge of your laptop to see whether it is lighted. If it is, the machine is receiving power.
5.Try moving the connector on the power cord where it enters the laptop. Many Toshiba models will not use power from the charger if there is no power flow being detected from the battery (in other words, if it is dead or missing). If by moving the connector around you can cause the computer to power on, the problem may be the connection between the battery and the motherboard.
6.Check for switch failure. This requires specialized equipment, but it could very well be the problem if the status lights on your laptop are lighted yet the computer itself is not powered on.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Toshiba Laptop BSOD and powers off by itself

This seems like memory issue. Have you tried to replace the memory? Static electricity can cause this sort of errors. If you take out the battery, unplug it from power source completely and take out the memory and put it back, it might help, if it is caused by static electricity. Otherwise try to put it in different memory slot.

My external microphone jack and USB's doesn't work on Toshiba Satellite

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and experience this problem with the mike stopping suddenly too. Your solution may not be as easy as mine was, but here goes ... Did you check the audio setup? Go to Audio Properties, and click Advanced so you can see the Microphone properties. Mine was muted and it wasn't me that muted it -- just seemed to happen suddenly and hopefully it's that easy for you!!!!
