Only option left.... 12 volts feeding coil is not there. The ignition key applys the 12 volts to the coil in the "Run" and "Start" positions. Verify 12 volts at input to coil and then (if needed) follow wire back to key and confirm voltage there....and (if needed) follow input wire to key from battery. One of those critters is open - since you have already confirmed the coil/spark plug wire is not at fault.

Can someone guide me through troubleshooting this ie which safety switches to check etc.

try a new spark plug. they breakdown over time. if still no spark unplug the wire under the coil. if it does not have spark now replace the coil. if it does have spark you have a bad switch somewhere.

No spark one plug f725 john deere

Did you replace the IGNITION coil or the "PULSING coil"? There are two different types on that engine. The ignition coil makes the high-voltage spark, the pulsing coil is a sensor that tells the ignition control module when to tell the ignition coil to make that spark. The pulsing coil is pretty inexpensive on eBay.

If you change both the ignition coil and the pulsing coil and the problem still persists, you may need to replace the ignition control module.

Unfortunately, they don't make these things simple any more, or easy to troubleshoot.

JOHN DEERE L130 SPARK PLUGS ARE NOT FIRING

first i thought this engine had only one spark plug ?? second it's a kohler engine right ? this model has a coil (thing that makes fire for plug) that sits right on top of engine under cover this allows grass and other stuff to get inside it and cause things to overheat a bit this makes coil go out when things get hot in there but it usually will restart when it cools off after a few hours your gonna need to remove cover replace overheated coil and clean this entire area with compressed air to get things cooling again , ck out youtube for some of my easy dissassembly videos of this motor (kohler coil change)

John deere gx345 has no spark at plug what is the cause?

need new coil pack or have short in harness grounding engine from running. check fuel line to carburator. 1. take float bowel off bottom of carb. do not touch float or pin holding float. crank engine over until fuel comes out of carb. If fuel comes out, you don't have fuel problem. put float bowel back on carb. 2. check for spark. take spark plug out of mower. put wire back on plug and place the threads on head [or metal of engine to ground the plug]. crank engine over for a few seconds to see if plug gets spark . [always double check with another spark plug that is good]. [[ Remember!!! you have to have someone sitting on the lawnmower to start. unless you by-pass safety switch [only do this if you understand how the safety switch works. NOT EXPLAINED HERE!!!]] If spark is present, there is no grounding problem. when engine is cool. 3. CHECK COIL PACK. for continuity. When the coil pack gets hot it will stop any juice to the plug. A>Check temp sensor B> Check Safety switches grounding out. C> Check for cut wiring harnes. [loose wires rubbing against pulleys, wires cut by rodents]. Hope this helps.........................GAS

I have a John Deere riding mower Model RX75 which will not start, I replaced the spark plug and it ran just fine for one day except that it Back-fired when I shut it off it never did this in all the years...

Weak spark can be caused by a bad ignition coil. The ignition coil is located under the engine fan/shroud, next to the flywheel. Check to make sure the coil lead and plug cap are not grounding against the engine robbing your spark as well.

My jd x324 will not start. it has fuel, we had a faint spark at first with new plugs we now have none.

Check the gap on your plugs first, than you must lean towards the coil it may be faulty or bad. Then you need to replace coil assy. You should see very strong spark with new plugs.

I have a lx 255 john deere wont start

You have a defective ignation coil. When the engine gets hot, the winding in the coil opens and the engine stops. After it cools down, it will again make contact and start again. If you don't know where the coil is, follow the wire from the spark plug. The spark plug wire is attached to the coil from the factory. It's easy to replace with a 1/4 inch socket set. Set the magnet to coil gap with a standard business card.
