This is my very 1st post . I just finished reading the owners manual for this product, which I just recently purchased. Nothing is mentioned about a firewire connection, but rather just USB 2.0.
It is possible to connect this camera's A/V input-output jack to a Firewire port in my computer, and if so, what aftermarket cable (adapter) would I need to accomplish this?
Thanks and happy new year to all,

Because you're camera stores the video in MPEG format on the 8cm DVD you don't need firewire speed to capture to your computer. The camera only has a USB interface as it does not need to transfer as much as a DV camcorder.
To edit your movies on your computer you will need to use the bundled DVD MovieAlbum-SE software to do at least the first step which is exporting your DVD-RAM (or R) format clips to MPEG files.
Once you have your clips in MPEG format you can use pretty much any of the available movie editing packages. I've just bought Pinnacle Studio 9 after playing with the trial version for the past month. A friend has been using it too and it looks good and does the job well.
Good luck,
George
