Question about HP PC Desktops

2 Answers

I have an HP pavilion 250n desktop that i'm trying to fix for a friend. when i boot up the system, everything boots up perfectly normal, except there's no video output at all. it has a nvidia geforce 4800x graphics card installed and i've tried switching between it and the integrated graphics on the motherboard with the same result. i wouldn't expect this to be a cmos problem, but i'm open to any suggestions and help that i can get. any response is appreciated. thanks

power supply and cpu fan are both working perfectly fine. i'm gonna give the ram a shot and see how it works...back in a few...

okay, pulling the ram out one piece at a time didn't work either...same problem as before. can't even get to a bios screen. nothing. the processor is seated firmly in place, cpu and power supply fan are all working properly, and the motherboard isn't touching the case at all from what i can see. i really appreciate you guys helping me with this problem and i'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it eventually. maybe one day i'll be able to return the favor.

The problem could be:

Bad slot video
Bad video card
Memory
CPU
Bad motherboard

Go to bios and set only one video card - (disable AUTO)
If the card is AGP be sure that the board accept that card (1-4-8x)
If everything is ok, but the problem continues >> replace the memory.
If after that the problem continues, >> make sure the cpu is inserted fully and seated in the socket..........or >> replace the cpu
if the problem continues, be sure that the board is not touching the case
if the problem continues>>replace the motherboard

If neither the onboard video and the GeForce video work, the problem may be the Ram. If it has 2 dimms or more, take them out and insert one at a time, powering down/up the computer each time you swap the memory.

I would clear CMOS, just in case.

If that does not do it, I would suspect that the Processor got over heated and is causing the problem. Is the CPU fan working? Is the Power Supply fan working?

INSTALL A NEW HARDDRIVE TO MY HP PAVILION A1220N ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP BOOT MGR IS MISSING

You need to install an operating system like windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Linux OS. Your hard drive is blank now and needs programming. If you have a friend that can clone your old drive then they will be able to copy everything from your old drive as it was to your new one. Might need to contact a local computer technician to re-install windows for you if not sure. Also you need to consider the price of windows XP, Vista or 7 if you don't have a copy!! Good luck!!

"disk boot failure, insert system

You should have a recovery cd, it will allow you to reinstall Windows. If you don't have even that then either borrow one from a friend and use it with you key (the one on the sticker), or order a new disk by following this

Computer will not start screen comes on HP invent

Hi.
This is a problem with HP/Compaq wherew the motherboard "freezes".

Here's a way that might just "thaw" it out.

First, disconnect EVERYTHING from the computer EXCEPT for the keyboard and mouse and screen.

Unplug the computer.

Next, while unplugged, press and hold the power button for at LEAST 45 seconds.
This allows the bios to reset to an available state.

Then release the power button and then plug the computer in.

Boot up.

The computer should now boot normally.

This is known as a "soft reset".

Hopefully this works for you, as it has worked well for many others.

I hope I helped you out, and good luck !

Error message at start up. Running windows xp. HP Pavilion a700N PC desktop. The message is: This application has failed to start because hpzjrd01.dllwas not found. re-installing the applicationmay fix...

To fix hpzjrd01.dll errors occurring due to corrupt or incomplete installation of HP printer software, uninstall your printer driver and reinstall it again.

To ensure the HP printer software is completely uninstalled from your system, we recommend you either use the built-in Add or Remove Programs utility or use the help of a third-party uninstaller, such as Perfect Uninstaller.

HP Pavilion M9040N Elite, power lights come on, will not boot

unhook everything that is hooked to it ! Except the keyboard mouse and Display. now try it ! If that doesn't work try to start in safe mode then do a system Restore to an earlier date. there could be a number of things to cause this even a mouse, So one at a time try to remove all that you can and then go from there and one at a time hook all back up until you find it. if not there have to start inside the machine, Doing the same thing/ video, sound,cd roms/floppy/etc.hope you find it in the first round.
