Either the program of the mp3 is corrupted that's why its did not open..try to connect the mp3 player to the pc...when the mp3 player was detected there,it means that your mp3 is good..try to open the file there...when it not...so the problem is that the file is corrupted...download new mp3 songs there. through internet...

Hmmm...the MP3 parts shouldn't have lined up with the iPod dock. Check that area for damage in case your son accidentally forced it. Otherwise, hold the power button for 15 seconds. That can occasionally jump-start my player, and it turns the player off even if it is frozen.
battery low?? else any breakage of internal circuit. else battery position is not correct else remove batteries and now press ON button for two seconds ( do as if your are turning it ON normally.) this s done to drain the excess power. now put the battery and then switch ON
