TV keeps changing channels

My TV automatically changes channels when I turn it on. I have to turn it on by the power button on the front of the TV only. The remote will not work at all. The channel change and volume control buttons on the front of the TV does not work either.
I have disconnected the TV from the outlet and then plugged it back in to no avail.

I tried that. What is weird is when I came home from work the TV was on and just flipping through channels itself. So basically the TV turned itself on while I was at work.

I have a similiar problem. My tv turns itself on and off, and it flips channels as if I were channel up button too long. If I unplug it for a few days or a week, it will work just fine, but as soon as I cut it off, it goes back to turning itself on and off and flipping channels

Out of 30 years in the repair field, I have seen this problem maybe 4 times. Once was a stuck button on the keypad of the tv. The other time was a second remote control with a book sitting on it and it would turn the tv on and off when someone would move something on the coffee table, another time was a bad solder connections on the microprocessor on the keypad circuit board and the last time was from a humorous neighbor in an apartment complex who thought he was funny who had an all in one remote control programmed for his neighbor's tv set.

Check for stuck buttons on the front of the tv set or on the remote. You can reset the remote by taking the batteries out and keep out for a few minutes and then put them back in. Try both if that don't work then you will have a deeper problem needed more technical troubleshooting.

Tv blinks out when front buttons are pushed. model#ws-65511

If the TV is turning on and working regularly, but power button does not shut down and buttons on TV do not work, then it is a faulty touch control (button) board on TV.

If instead the TV does not even turn on, then tv is on protection mode, in that case it can be any internal fault.

If instead the problem is with remote buttons, then it is either a faulty remote or a faulty IR sensor.

MENU SCREEN POPS UP, TV CHANGES CHANNELS, TURNS SOUND DOWN

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.

When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.

It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.

Check to make sure the channel down button is not stuck. If it is not the button is probably defective. Mits has had a lot of problems with the buttons.

Child Lock is on and I am second owner of tv with no code

This function will block out the picture and sound of the selected channel or video input.
It can also be used to keep the TV from being viewed for a scheduled time period that you set.
The code to enter the Locks feature is a four digit secret code number. The factory preset code is 0000.
Use the number buttons to select access code.

Use CURSOR G or H to highlight function and then press the SELECT button.
To change the access code number, select Change Access Code. Enter a new four digit key number you prefer.
Select CHANGE ACCESS CODE to change factory preset code (0000) to your preference.
When ENGAGE LOCK is selected, SET CHANNEL LOCK, SET INPUT LOCK, and SET FRONT PANEL LOCK can be set individually.
When SET CHANNEL LOCK is turned on, the picture and sound for the chosen channel will be blocked out.
When SET INPUT LOCK is turned on, the picture and sound for all video inputs and the picture and sound for channels 3, 4 will be
blocked out.
When FRONT PANEL LOCK is turned on, all buttons on the Front Panel will be deactivated, except the Power button.
When TV TIME LOCK is turned on (r TIME LOCK) you can set the BEGIN and END times (CURSOR E) and the TV
cannot be viewed during that time period (Set clock first). Use CURSOR G or H to highlight ONCE (TV will time out one time
only), DAILY (TV will time out every day), WEEKLY - SUN~WEEKLY - MON (TV will time out one time a week) or OFF (to disable
this function).
When MOVIE RATINGS is selected, you can block various types of movies and video tapes based on motion picture ratings. Picturein-
Picture will also be blocked automatically (see page 45).
When TV RATINGS is selected, various types of television programming based on a parental guide ratings will be blocked.

If you forget your secret code, use the factory code 7777 to erase your key number. This will reset the secret code number back to the
factory preset 0000.
Press EXIT to quit the menu.

RCA projection TV 65inches, turned it on, the channel can not stay the same, it automatically goes down one continuously, 43->42->41->40->......

Check for stuck button on front of set or on remote. Probably ch. down button. Wiggle button free from jammed condition and ch. should stop changing. If that doesn't solve it unplug set from the wall or power strip for 30 seconds and restart in an attempt to reset. Take batteries out of remote to eliminate it as the culprit, also. And you can change the tv input and use audio/video input if the tuner in the set has gone haywire.Good luck, Russmann.

How to change channels to channel 3 without remote?

Will your tv allow you access to the menu from the front of the set? (try holding down different combinations of buttons on the front of the set if there is no menu button) If you can get into the menu, run the automatic channel memory feature. Make sure the device you want to see on channel 3 is on and connected to the set. (if it's a vcr make sure it's in vcr mode) This should find the device and set your tv to channel 3. Use the channel buttons on the front of set if its not right on ch3.

Tv keeps changing channels on its own and remote not working

I disconnected the front buttons of my set. Pop off the speaker cover and note which color wires come off the buttons and then take off the lower back and you can see where it connects to a board. Generally the far right connection but trace the wires. After doing that my channels quit cycling and everything but the front buttons work.

Tv turns on manually, but auto flips through channels and you can't use remote

Found this in another forum (www.hometheaterspot.com) and it fixed my remote problem:

"...it's possible that one of the front panel buttons is "stuck" or shorted, and this could cause the TV to ignore commands from the front panel or remote. But this should also cause the Power command to be ignored, too. You might try pulling off the front panel and disconnecting the front panel buttons and then see if the remote works."
