If the cutter cycles on start up up?
if not, check connector(RJ45) underneath platen assy.
I connected the I class should immediately recognize the cutter.
If it does not cut ever, check you format to see if the cutter is turned on in the driver.
I have seen some failures from wear on the bell crank that cycles the cutter.

Hi, The Roll Paper button cuts, feeds and returns paper to the printing position when the automatic cutter is used. When held down for three seconds, it reverses the roll paper out of the printer. The cutter can make either one cut precisely between images, two cuts with a margin between images or no cuts. The driver lets you select which method you prefer. The Utility program has an alignment option for the cutter that you should use whenever you reinstall the cutter. Please let me know if this does not help else please accept it. Thank You for contacting Fixya.com
The following is from the Epson Users Manual: Troubleshooting No lights on the control panel Check the power supply cable connections and the power outlet. ERROR LED on (not flashing) with no printing If PAPER OUT is on, the roll paper is not installed or is near the end. If PAPER OUT is off, the printer cover is not closed properly. ERROR LED flashing with no printing (and no paper jam) Printing stops if the head overheats and resumes automatically when it cools. If overheating is not the cause, turn the printer off, and after 10 seconds, back on. Removing Jammed Paper CAUTION: Do not touch the thermal head because it can be very hot after printing. 1. Turn the printer off and press the cover open button. 2. Remove jammed paper, reinstall the roll, and close the cover. 3. If paper is caught in the cutter and you cannot open the printer cover, open the cutter cover as shown in illustration J. 4. Turn the knob until you see a triangle in the opening. This returns the cutter blade to the normal position. There is a label near the cutter to assist you. See illustration K. 5. Close the cutter cover. 6. Open the printer cover and remove the jammed paper. Cleaning the Thermal Head CAUTION: After printing, the thermal head can be very hot. Be careful not to touch it and to let it cool before you clean it. Do not damage the thermal head by touching it with your fingers or any hard object. Turn off the printer, open the printer cover, and clean the thermal elements of the thermal head with a cotton swab moistened with an alcohol solvent (ethanol, or IPA). Epson recommends cleaning the thermal head periodically (generally every 3 months) to maintain receipt print quality.
It sounds like your print head is overheating. Clean as instructed above.
For the cutter to work it is necessary to instruct the printer to "Use the cutter" This setting is usually accessible in the printer driver. Your label program interacts with the printer driver. Ensure that the cutter option is selected in the printer driver.
Sometimes debris builds up in the bottom of the cutter assembly preventing the cutter from going all the down. There is a switch inside the cutter which trips the "jammed" error if the cutter can't go all the way down. The cutter can be removed and disassembled to remove the problem. Caution should be exercised. There are washers and springs on the cutter face plate guide screws which have to be removed.
I sounds like the cutter is jammed. This most likely was caused by a some tape getting caught in the cutter mechanism or by a build-up of adhesive on the cutter blades. The noise is most likely the cutter trying to actuate and not being able to. The solution is to clean the cutter to remove any debris and adhesive. This is normally done by a service technician and thus requires sending the printer to Brady. You can get faster service that costs less by having the printer cleaned by Graphic Products. They provide a full cleaning and diagnostic service, and can repair many problems. You can contact Graphic Products at 1-888-326-9244. They are also very nice about answering any questions you may have about the GlobalMark.
Problem: The Printer does not detect the Reverse position of the cutter during initialization.
Either there is a scrap piece of paper obstructing the path of the
carriage that houses the cutter blade or more than likely impact on
the lower left side of the printer causing a bend in the metal that holds the Reverse switch. This switch will trigger a sensor telling the printer that the cutter has reached the Reverse position(left side)
The grinding noise is caused by the cutter carriage rubbing on the inner side of the door panel. The door panel shifted inward and is obstructing the path of the cutter blade.
Solution:Replace the door panel and check
for damage on the left side of the cutter blade path and bend the
metal piece to realign the switch so that the plastic carriage makes
contact when reaching the left side. Or replace the whole cutter blade assembly. Any replacement parts can be ordered from imagingspectrum.com.
