When I try to write designs from my reader-writer customizer 2000 it tells me -failed to open serial port,my port is working properly
hi my name is gloria and i was amazed when i found this site and found that i am not alone with this problem.
MY CUSTOMIZER 2000 is doing the same thing. i have tried every thing possible to fix it but to no avail. every thing goes fine untill i click write to scancard and then up comes little box port cannot be found. have checked and tried all ports same thing
I have the same problem with mine. I have tried everything. Baud rate, com port, new cable, asking Janome... nothing works. These boxes are very expensive since Janome has decided not to sell them anymore. :(
Shame on them! We all bought this product and paid a lot of money for them, now we can get no answers to our questions on how to correct this problem, much less any kind of poduct support. I am sorry for venting but I am very frustrated with trying to figure this out for the past year!
I can't afford a new machine... wish I could. Being able to embroider would help our family financially as I did embroider for others. If anyone has any answers to this problem please let all of us know.
Short of finding a company that makes reader writer boxes that would work with the machine I think we are "dead in the water"
Again please forgive this rant.... Just frustrated!!!!!!!

Adobe reader cannot open .jpg files. Adobe reader is designed to read files with a .pdf file extension. PDF is a quasi-universal format that's common across multiple operating systems. If your scanner will allow you to save files in .pdf format, Adobe reader should be able to open them. Otherwise, you'll have to use a picture file viewer/editor. Most versions of Windows have a picture viewer built in.
Use the Scan to PDF software to direct convert your scan page to PDF, download the software to click hear and simple to install to this software, after installing you get the shortcut in your desktop double click that one and open your scaner is automatic install there put the document in scanner and click scan after scanning click save to PDF and give the save file name and save.
The driver could be out of date. Try opening device manager. If you are running Windows 7 or Vista, click on the start menu and type device manager. If you are running Windows XP, click on start, control panel, system, then the hardware tab, and device manager. Scroll down and open the plus' until you find the fingerprint reader. When you find it, right click on it and click update driver. Tell it yes, you want it to search online for a new driver.
sometimes the power management causes the scanner to act up or fail altogether.
Solution: Disable power management on the USB hubBy default, Window XP tries to disable USB port when the HP Scanjet scanner is not in use to save power. The scanner fails to wake up when called. To fix this problem use the steps below:
Click Start , right-click My Computer , then click Properties . The System Properties window will open.
Click the Hardware tab, then Device Manager . The Device Managerwindow will open.
Double-click the Universal Serial Bus controller branch to expand it.
Right-click USB Root Hub , then click Properties . The USB Root Hub Properties window will open.
Click the Power Management tab.
Remove the check from the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save powercheck box.
Click OK , and close USB Root Hub Properties window.
First. Check equipment connections. Verify that your equipment is set up the way it should be. Second. Try a multitude of checks for testing purposes, if they still don't work it's the check reader. 3. If the check is stopping half way, I want you to use compressed air to remove any debris along the path of the reader. 4. Now, try it again. If it still stops halfway through, then it's a bad wheel. That wheel becomes overheated and looses it's rigidity. It's a passive wheel and contacts the check and compresses/guides it against the account scanner. But if the wheel is loosing its rigidity, it will fail to scan checks and fail to wheel the check in correctly. Contact me for any further details at firstname.lastname@example.org
