SOURCE: Projection Problem with Toshiba TLP 261

The projector uses a polarising filter, in between the lamp lenses and the LCD panels. Due to overheating, it's possible for the filter to become tarnished - it's only a thin plastic film bonded to glass slide. Replacing the polarising filter is a complex job, requiring complete disassembly of the projector - but can be done. Use replacement polarising film from any optical camera supplier.

reset the settings to factory default. then make sure that the input matches the signal and that the cables are working. if you still have a problem, and the entire screen (including the initial toshiba screen) is entirely green tinted, you may have a main board issue.

Check your VGA cable, if they are constantly plugged in and out, a pin may be damaged. Also try wiggling the cable at each end, ie from the laptop and the computer, I have had problems with the VGA output on the laptop. If this doesn't correct the problem it will probably be a polarisor lens, if so it will probably cost more than a new replacement projector. I recently purchased NEC NP115 for just over £200.

Good luck

Hello,
If all the fans are running and you are sure, than it sounds like you have a bad main control board. Double check that all the fans are running. If so you will need to replace the main controller, this is the board that the fans are plugged into.

reset the settings to factory default. sometimes the lamp will burn at a lower temp at the end of it's life and emits a different color. might be the lamp or the ballast. if all else fails, replace the main board.

Showing to of the same thing twice and colors

The projector has one or more "burnt" polarizers, more than likely.

They are replaceable, but expensive if you buy them from the manufacturer.

Look on Google for "burnt polarizer".

It's not the easiest job, but at least they're replaceable.

ghosting or convergance issue is what u have. if the image is in diff colors then deff a convergence issue. however, if the image isthe same color or shaded from the original then this is ghosting. this may be corrected through the menu settings(sinc settings).
