The metal bar that the cartridge holder travels on may need lubing

get 3 in 1 oil and put one or two drops of oil on the bar and then manually move the holder back and forth a few times to spread the oil

I had the same problem with my HP 8250 "Print cartridge is stuck" - I gave up after spending a few hours opening all of the access doors on the printer and removing any crumpled paper I'd seen.
Now, 5 months later, I decided to give it a try again from a different perspective, and soliciting Diving intervention. :) I took all of the ink cartridges out and moved the print head over from the right side, when I peeked in, there was a very little bit of crumpled paper tucked in there, it's best to use a flashlight to look in there.
    That solved the problem!

    Blessings.

How can I remove the stuck cartridges so I can try to reinsert them?

Are they original ink cartridges? Sometimes if they are compatible inks, they will be slightly different and may not clip in.

Ink cartridge is stuck in its holder.

Make sure you printer is on when you attempt this.

Open printer door
Wait for cartridge to slide into place.
Once in place put finger ontop of the cartridge closer to the white sticker on the front.
Press down and it should pop out.
If it has been in for awhile it may be stuck but applying more pressure should dislodge it.

Here is a video of how to do it.

How do I get the cartridge out to replace with new one???

The steps of replacing cartridge with a new one.

1) First You keep the printer power on. Open the printer cover - you will find the cartridges holder will come in proper place (the position varies printer to printer) so that you can easily remove the old cartridge.

2) Press gently the upper front portion of the cartridge you want to remove out of the printer holder - you will find it will be unlocked - just remove the cartridge carefully. (in some printer there is a cover on top of the cartridge holder which you can open to perform the step 2.

3) Unpack the new cartridge.

4) Don't forget to remove the plastic tape from the cartridge head (Ex.in HP, Lexmark cartridges etc).

5) Look the printer holder and look to the cartridge - you can easily decide the position of the cartridge in the holder.

6) Gently and carefully  put the cartridge in the holder - press the upper portion of the cartridge from front side - the cartridge will be locked autometically in the holder.

7) Put the printer cover in proper place.

8) Print Now - it will print test page first. Now print as usual.

I hope the solution is helpful to you. Thanks for using fixya.com.

Clear carriage jam

The carriage assembly is what the ink cartridges moves on. The silver bar that runs through the cartridge holder must be oiled. Put two or three drops of thin oil oun iether sides of the cartridge holder. This should clear the "carriage error"

Good Luck

My printer won't pus paper through for photos,

Hello.

That error message means that the cartridge holder is blocked.

Turn the printer off and then manually move the cartridge holder a few inches. The holder could just be stuck.

Hope this helps.

Hp deskjet 882c printer carriage is stuck

Hi first of all you need to make sure that everything is in good shape on the carriage and the cartridge holder,

also check if you have any broken plastic pieces in the printer.

you mentioned the reset a well
was it a partial or a semi full reset

another thing which we can try is
1>take out both the cartridges
2> unplug the power cable while the printer is on
3>press the power button for 30 sec to remove the static
3>replug the power
now let the printer lights blink prompting you to put the cartridges
4>put the black cartridge first
some Hp printers work on single cartridges as well.
5>see if you hear the same grinding noise again
6>try cleaning the rollers with a little damp lint free cloth
7>try putting the color cartridge
make sure that the cartridges snap inside properly.
8>see if the problem persists

Printer stucked up

This sounds like a paper jam. make sure that the rollers are okay, you find this when the printer turns on and the rollers go. they should slide without problems if they are Ok. In a case where the rollers themselves have a problem, take the printer to a tec who can fix that easily.

Also check the cartridge holder if the rollers are fine. it could be that the holder itself isnt managing to slide on the bar well. clear off any obstuctions and make sure the cartridge rest holder at the extreme right is Ok, else that will need to be positioned.
