You need to update the Bios to version 3305, and update the Atheros driver to version 160 --- this will make the WIFI connection stable.

I have the same problem. It won't even connect using a cable. The DVD solution would be helpful IF the laptop contained a DVD but it does not.

You're probably not going to like this answer. The Acer Atheros card, as shipped, from what I've read and experienced, has problems connecting to wireless networks (particularly WEP/WPA). I haven't tried this, but you could try downloading more recent drivers (the ones on my Aspire were dated 05/08) on another machine and transferring them via flash drive. A more certain fix is to purchase a USB wireless adapter. You will have to go through the headache of offloading the CD onto a flash drive on a different computer and installing the drivers via flash drive (use Autorun), but it's not hard to do.

Remember to disable the Atheros Wireless Connection in your Network Connections before connecting to your wireless connection or it will still interfere with your connection.

Considering how much you saved on this machine, the $30-$120 (depending on what features you want) for a functional USB network adapter is a small price to pay for a fully functional network/Internet computer. I bought a NetGear and that fixed my problem.

Acer Aspire 5733 Wireless connection lost

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.

If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.

Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.

Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.

Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.

Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.

Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire. Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.

Restart the computer.

The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver. Restarting the computer corrects this issue.

hope this helps

Wireless lan not working on my acer aspire 4520

The wireless feature (Wireless LAN) on an Acer notebook allows you to connect to available networks. This convenience allows you to use the Internet with network cables, modems or network installation. Acer laptops come with a wireless switch to turn the wireless feature on or off. Once you enable the wireless feature, your Acer notebook can connect to wireless networks within range.

Instructions:
1.Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

2.Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

3.Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

My laptop (acer aspire 4930) wifi is not able to detect wireless networks. It has been working fine for 1.5 years but something has happened today that it is not able to detect the wireless connections.

Double check that the Wi-Fi didn't accidentally get turned off. There should be a button on your computer that turns it on and off or a fn key usually fn+f2. Try that first if that doesn't solve the issue try reinstalling your driver which can be found at the following site.

My ACER ASPIRE ONE WAS CONNECTING TO THE WIRELESS NETWORK OK FOR THREE DAYS NOW WILL NOT CONNECT my acer does not recognise my wireless devise. It use to work so so hit or miss. But now nothing. Anyone...

There is a little button in the front right hand corner of the laptop that if you hold it for a second or two it will enable or disable ability to access the wireless router. Very easy to turn of and on, on an accident the button is located right where your right wrist would sit! There is nothing on the computer or in the guide that refers to this button!

Hope this can help someone!

My PC is an Acer Aspire T180, my OS is Vista, ram 2GB. If I leave my PC for a while sometimes my internet connection drops, however the other PC on my network is Ok.

That looks like a problem with the network card.

Ensure first that the wireless connection signal is ok (at least two steady bars, better three).

Reinstall the network card drivers, if that does not help you can only solve the problem by installing an external network adapter.
